while at first you are panicked by the notion of not being able to log into facebook...take some comfort in knowing that the department of defense and the NSA are no longer spying on you lol. Yep facebook is bad and is a spy tool for the ever imperial government.
Please check your PC for any errors or virus in the system as the server might reject if there are systems logging in with malwares.
use a good anti virus and scan, Also to confirm try and log in from a friend's PC. If this works then the PC is having errors in the OS.
You dont need to change passwords in different browsers.
Changing your password once will affect any browser trying to log on to facebook user database. May it be google chrome firefox safari netscape etc etc
You have to log out of her facebook page (on the facebook page select log out) and then log back in using your user name and password.
When you are done doing what you want to do on facebook you will need to log off before your friend can log back into her account. You might want to check with your friend and make sure that she remembers her log in info before you log her out.

If you are able to connect to the internet, but not to Facebook, then it is not a problem with your laptop. That would have to do with Facebook. Wrong password/username, the site was expericning database connection errors, or possibly your account got hacked. Hacked accounts isn't uncommon on MySpace. Try the recover password option and check your email to see if your account info is still the same.
