if you really cant find it you could try taking the cmos battery out for 40sec and then reseating it.
that would clear any bios passwords

remove the laptop (large battery) then: remove the bios battery (small) from the motherboard wait ten minutes pluf in the laptop reboot then shutdown and reinsert the laptop battery. your code will be erased

Bios password missed

since this is a dell inspiron 6400 what i can suggest u is u can call up dell and verify the account with them and they will definately be able to help u out with ur issue and if u dont want to call them up just fill up the form by just going to this website and click on submit and it will help u to reset the bios password.http://support.dell.com/support/topi...n&lnki=0&s=gen,

Reset bios password

If you are not afraid to open the box, the simple fix would be to remove the cpu battery(looks like a quarter) for about 30 seconds and replace, then boot up. At that point it will ask for information such as date and time, but then you can access the bios
