Updating the Channel List Automatically You can update the channel list when the broadcaster adds new Services or if you move the TV to a new location.

1. Press the MENU button to display the menu. Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select "Digital Menu", then press the ENTER button.

2. Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select "Channel", then press the ENTER button.

3. Press the ENTER button again, to select "Country".

4. Select the appropriate country by pressing the ▲ or ▼ button. Press the ENTER button to confirm your choice. Even though you have changed the country setting in this menu, the country setting for Analogue TV is not changed. (Refer to page 11 of the user guide)

5. Press the ▲ or ▼ button again, to select "Auto Store". Press the ENTER button. When it has finished, the number of scanned services will be displayed. The existing favourite channel list will not be deleted when the channel list is updated. To stop the scan before it has finished, press the ENTER button with "STOP" selected.

6. Press the EXIT button to exit. If the signal status is poor, the "No Service found! Check the aerial connection" message is displayed. Check the aerial connection and the try the procedure again

I decided to re-tune all the channels. Now I have only half the channels. I have tried to re-tune, with the same results. Manual re-tuning will not accept the wanted channel numbers. Please help.

It could be a signal strength or signal quality problem - too strong a signal is as bad as a weak signal.

Retuning using a different aerial with a known performance would prove that. Once retuned with all channels present and stored in the memory you should find the original performance using your own aerial is restored.

My humax won't;t record bbc channels. I have tried retuning the tv.

This could be too much signal thanks to the Freeview retunes going on. Your aerial is more sensitive at some frequencies, so there's more signal power higher up the frequency range. The signals for BBC and ITV are among the strongest ones broadcast. If they are now at a point on the aerial's range where they are too strong for the TV then the tuner will over-saturate. The result is the same as no signal.

Have a look online for a Variable Signal Attenuator. It's a device that can be added to a aerial signal cable just before it goes in to the tuner. The adjuster allows the signal level to be reduced. Watch the TV's signal quality and signal level displays if it has them. As signal level (power) reduces you'll actually see signal quality increase. If you go too far then quality will start to go down again. The optimum point is where quality is highest.

JVC LT22HD32J DIGITAL TV WONT HOLD CHANNELS AFTER RETUNE

It's October 2012 and I have a problem with my exact same model of JVC TV which has worked fine since i bought it in January. In fact it has worked the best out of the four that we have in the house working off the same aerial until 4 days ago. I tried retuneing and then the problem expanded to more channels. I tried to reset to factory options and then do a retune but lost all the channels. I have again reset and retuned and I'm back with channels that I can only tune into for between 4 and 15 seconds before the screen goes blank. None of the other televisions are affected. Digital UK website show no works to transmitters in our area and JVC are impossible to contact. Their site sends one around in circles in a most frustrating and unhelpful way. I will not be buying JVC again. Any help offered would be gratefully accepted!

How to retrieve lost channels on digital tv

To restore missing channels, you need to retune your digital receiver (box or TV).

The retuning process runs a scan and finds all the available channels. Your box may have an Add New Channels option that you can use, but this may not pick up other changes such as channels being moved to a different multiplex or removed altogether.
How to retune
  1. Switch on your digital box and/or TV.
  2. Press Menu on the remote control.
  3. Select the Setup or Installation option.
  4. Select the 'First time installation' option (sometimes called 'Factory reset', 'Full retune' or 'Default settings').
  5. Press OK if your equipment asks if you want to delete all your channels. Don't worry, this is normal.
  6. If you are prompted for a code, try 0000 or 1234.
  7. Channels will be automatically installed. This may take a few minutes and your equipment may shut down and restart.
  8. After retuning, you will have to redo your Favourites list and other settings. If you retune a digital TV recorder, you also should reset future recordings.

My PVR has retuned (DSO)to the wrong transmitter. I receive signals from the Winter Hill transmitter and live in SW Cumbria. My Humax 9200T has retuned ok but my older 8000T has retuned to a transmitter in...

Not a complete solution but after much fruitless fiddling through the menu I eventually found that the programmes were actually there but under different channel numbers.
I searched a long way down the LIST of channels (on remote) The BBC1 channel I want is now 800 BBC. Selecting 1 on the remote still brings up BBC Wales.
This applies to my Humax 8000T PVR - I can't comment on other makes of Freeview box.

No programme info ona Sony TV after the Freeview retune

Unfortunately you haven't said which exact model of Sony tv you have, but there were a lot of their models which didn't behave correctly after the digital retune. In most cases this led to a digital tv freeze.

The official advice is to first try the retune again; from experience I'd add that you need to try it at least twice and to do so at different times of the day in case there is temporary unplanned signal disruption or other environmental factors.

If that does not work then you need to contact Sony directly for advice on 0870 511 1999.

Please cut and paste the following web address into your browser and you'll see a list of Freeview equipment which is known to have incompatibilities with the retune (you need to have Adobe Reader installed). Unfortunately the list has proven to be somewhat less than comprehensive.

I hope that you have found my advice to be of assistance and in return ask only that you remember to rate my answer.

I have no bbc1 or other main channels after re-tune on my TX-32LXD1

Try looking at the EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) and selecting one of the missing channels if it is showing on screen. If you can receive the broadcast then it means that your channel list has been rearranged into a different order and you will have to manually edit the list to get the programmes in the order that you need. If the channels are not there then try retuning again.

SONY BRAVIA -KDF-E50A12U- SENTANTA FREEVIEW TUNING PROBLEMS.

You may lose some channels when you retune the TV as the channels have been rearranged. To locate them look at the EPG although you may still find that some channels are no longer available on FREEVIEW. See the following link for additional information

http://www.freeview.co.uk/_retuneinfo/

If the above process does not work then check the link above for additional information and also visit the accompanying site links below to find more information for your model of TV / FREEVIEW box.
