SOURCE: how can I open the case of gateway solo 2150? I

There is some information on FixYa for this already which can be found at the post below. Generally with a laptop, you'll have some hidden screws under a bezel on the top of the keyboard area. You gently pop this off with a small screwdriver and underneath will be the screws that hold the keyboard in. After removing these, you generally can disassemble the rest of the laptop.

Wireless switch on model solo 5300

Hi. Not enough information. Do you want a switch? Do you need to FIND a switch? Is it a Gateway notebook?
The specifications for the Gateway Solo 5300 do not indicate a wireless system as part of the original unit.
See:
http://support.gateway.com/s/manlib/Notebooks/Solo5300/8508144/8508144.htm

Most units with PC100 memory (like this one) did not come with wireless. You will likely need a wireless PCMCIA card.

Opening a Gateway Solo 2150 laptop

I found the answer on another wed site. I tried it on my Gateway Solo 1500 and it works! The extra screws are hidden on top. You carefully remove the small face plate around the power button. I used a very small screw drive to lift it off.

Opening Gateway Solo 1400

I'm also an A+ certified tech, but I've done notebook service for a lot of years. I just finished opening up a Gateway Solo 1400 and it was NOT easy! There are no screws holding the keyboard on the bottom of the machine. You can get the case open about 95% and there will be one area stuck, in the back near where the screen cable goes into the unit. There is a hidden screw on the top of the case next to the hinge. To get to it, you have to remove the two screws that hold the plastic hinge cover and pry off the cover. I only managed to find it after removing the keyboard, the display, and the panel with the LEDs and power button. (The screws holding the keyboard are on the top of the machine, underneath the cover with the power button on it.)
