I have installed Garmin mobile PC 5.00.70. on my Toshiba Satellite L450, OSWindows 7 Ultimate, Dual-Core CPU T4400, 2,2GHz, 3,0GB RAM, but can't findHI-204III USB.
I was regularly install driver for HI-204III USB also and W7Ultimate was informthat new device is successfully installed.

Well, if it isn't written for Win 7 there is little chance it will work. However, you could try installing and running in Compatibility Mode for Win XP SP2. You right click, the .exe, and go to properties, and set it there. Do this as Administrator, do this for ALL .exe's, the Install and when you "Run" the installed program.It may work, is your only shot anyway. Another way I use is to install a "Virtual" PC, Vmware, install an XP Version, and use the device Inside that, save any files to a shared drive,and you will be able to access them outside of VM.

The user manual for this unit is pretty good. It contains pin assignment for the PS/2 plug. The manual can be found at http://www.radio-active.net.au/web/gps/204e.pdf or at Haicom web site http://www.haicom.com.tw/ (the latter seems to be unavailable right now).

I had a USB-cable which I lost (can't find it although it's somwhere in my basement). After wiring a RS-232 cable and an external power supply the unit is acting weird. See
