When I boot up I get one long beep up to 4 seconds long. If I keep trying the machine will boot up and work normally.

the beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains active untill turned off.
make sure that your RAM is securely seated
test or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive make sure the connections are secure including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA the ones that attach from your
((motherboard to hard drive))
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
hope this helps

UGuru and 64-bit Vista?

First of all, are you using the most recent version of uGuru? Previous versions did not work under Vista. The current version is 3.104. You can download it here: http://mainboard-drivers-and-utilities.free-driver-download.com/Abit/38474/Abit-uGuru-v3.104-Windows-2000-XP-2003-Vista-XP-x64.html Assuming you have the newest version, can you get me the exact text of the error message? That would make it easier to troubleshoot. -Dyllan

Os install won't let me

Okay, this is elementary, but I've forgotten some pretty basic things before.

1. You've cleared the RTC?

2. Made sure you have the latest bios copy in it?

3. Gone into set up and set the computer to boot from the DVD before the hard drive? (If it's set to still boot from the hard drive first, it won't boot up)

4. Made sure the drives are properly defined?

By the way, does NT 4.0 run on Fat 32 or NTSC?

You don't happen to have a master/slave problem the way your drives are set up do you? Just trying to think of anything that might foul the install.

I think it sounds more like a hard drive problem with the way it is set up rather than the motherboard. I hope that is the case. Let me know how it goes.

Hey anyone can help me with some info

Well it will not hurt you're board if that's what you want to know. Depends what devices you have plugged into the board. If you're running 4 serial ATA SATA's. Two CD/DVD drives. A floppy drive & an AGP 8x graphics card. The 400w should do just fine. (You can never run too high a PSU source).
I'm running 4 serial ATA 7200rpm SATA's, 2 DVD-ROM's, a floppy drive. 1 PCI-E graphics card. Four, 4" case fans. Skt 939 Dual core 4200+ CPU & my 550w has been stable for over 2 years.

Have a great weekend!

Abit Guru Ai7 Hard Drive Problem

Simply....... no. Once formatted it's reinstall time.
You can load you're windows cd into the cdrom drive & try to get windows to load. If you do get the cdrom to load - (Press any key to load from cd...... ) & press any key. Once in windows setup ( DO NOT format the drive) but do reinstall windows, if windows see's another windows on your drive, great install over it. If windows does re-install it's self you should have enough time to install burner software & back up your personal data to CD or DVD before your partition looses it's cookies & shuts you down.
You can also leave it alone & install another drive & setup windows complete & slave it back into you're system for IDE.
SATA's are all master drives. Than copy your data back to you're new drive. In these cases I always suggest the user go to the web site of the hard drive & download the Mfg's bootable software tool's/setup utilities. Windows is not perfact at formatting.

Luck!
