Boot up into your Bios and make sure your SATA is enabled and set, then save. Make sure your primary drive is on SATA 0 and your second is SATA 1, I tend to start my optical drives at SATA 5 and work my way down to avoid changing ports on an upgrade. Also make sure your using \hard disks complient with your SATA controlers version.

In the first place, I must admit that you are telling me of installing a driver onto another driver and this seems somewhat starnge. So, can you tell me of the problem after you take a deep breath and may be a drink. The reason that I need to know all the details is because some unimportant details may be very important for us. The way we work is that we put together a computer model and we duplicate your problem on our equipment. THis way when we give you suggestions they are not going to be guesses, but facts. Another thing is that a computer has a lot more things besides the mother boards and the RAM memery. So, I must ask for the following items: (1) The Manufacturer and name of the computer; the model number (and may be the serial number if possible), the Manufacturer of the MB with the ID numbers that correspond to it. You will find the MB ID around the white sluts or the PCI sockets. The printing is that profound that you cannot miss it. There are other companies that like to live a bit dangerously. They don't want to believe that any proximity between the RAM memories and the the BIOS feed lines, so they located the ID of the MB and the BIOS chip right in the middle of some high interference. But you don't need to worry because they have place shielding which neutralizes all internference. As soon as I receive the info. from you I will go right to work. We will help you fix your computer If I may say something it would be that it would be good for you to buy a book for those who are newbies. There is a series of books out, called "For Dumies" "Computers for Dumies". I, for instance, am working with the various distributions of Linux, so, I have bought my Book "Linux for Dumies". Believe me, it has helped me a great deal.
Thank you very much for your consideration of our service...
My name is Constantin (arzconst is my nickname within fixya.com)

Windows 7 just recently went into RC1 status. It is unlikely that Abit, as well as other PC hardware manufacturer's, will have drivers available this soon after the RC1 launch. You may be able to get away with using the Vista versions of the drivers but this seems to be hit-or-miss.

The above link is to Realtek's direct download site for their HD Drivers. As you can see from the list, there are no Win7 drivers available.

If they use the wide ribbon cable, you need the cables with two connectors. Then set on drive to master and one to slave, or set both to CS - for cable select. When you restart the computer, the OS will do the rest.

Hi Klex, I was able to find the website address www.kdsusa.com through one of their products on Newegg, but the site appears to no longer exist. They also had a phone number listed (1-800-283-131) but that too doesn't seem to work. I have the feeling that they have either close their business or ended their operations in the U.S.. Sorry I didn't have better information for you.
