Multiple disconnections For the past few days, at any time during the day, my router would drop my connection, but not fully restart. It would do this a few times, possibly be fine for a few hours, then do it again. What can I do to possibly fix it?

I have a Zyzel nbg416n wireless router. Ive had it for 5 days and its constantly dropping the connection. Connection via an ethernet cable is fine, it's just the wireless aspect. The connection...

Wireless routers do what is called signal shifting. This means as the signal gets weaker (either because of distance or because it has to pass through walls, strong electrical fields etc) the speed is automatically dropped to as low as 6mbps. All the obstacles will kill your signal very quickly as well. You can try moving your router to a better location or invest in a repeater to place between your wireless router and the computer.

you need to configure the dsl modem to be on bridge mode after you did it successfully. that is the time you configure your d-link for you to connect to the internet.
call first your ISP to configure the modem to Bridge mode after that call your manufacturer of the dlink for them to configure your connection

Sometimes the connection can be stable for hours but then other times it disconnects every few minutes. I know the router is working fine as I have 2 other laptops that never drop the connection and my ps3 and phone always stay connected as well. Thinking now that I have got to take it back

Problem for D-Link DIR-615 Wireless Router, Orange Power Light

I have had multiple problems with these routers. They tend to drop signals or have other issues that are hard to explain in a few short sentences.
After you rebooted did you open your browser and type in the IP address to connect to the router software?

can you be more specific?

I just upgraded from firmware version 1.01.14 to 1.01.22 and I have the same problem, the router just keeps resetting itself. I think the solution is to go back to the old firmware, but I haven't been able to find a copy yet, Once I find firmware version 1.01.14 for the WRT54GX2 router. Internet connection

The problem may lie with your WiFi adapter on the 2nd computer.. these days NICs (adapters) have a Power Off capability and they will go to 'sleep' to save power.. you can try to resolve this through the Device Manager > Network Adapters > and the Properties of your WiFi adapter.. look for a tab on the Properties named Power Management..

Otherwise, it this is occuring on the WiFi Access Point, look for something in the interface to maintain Persistent Connections.. Since I do not use Netgear, I would have to find the manual to be sure.. but lets try the first option before we go on..
