My car make a clicking/ticking noise when I turn could this be a bad CV joint?
SOURCE: Steering Binding
Hello Goldwinger.
Yes it could be an axle, It could also be the strut tower The strut bearing is on top of your strut and could be a problem I have seen it before and also the Axle do that, I don't think it would be the steering rack because I think it would do that either way you turn the steering wheel. I would stick with your first thought. Axle, sure sounds like an axle, The Clicking is usually the First indication of that. So I would take it out and check it or just replace it and I think that will solve your problem. If not get back to me and when I get in from the Shop I will check back here and see if you got it or not. Thanks Goldwinger and hope that helps you out some what. Bear001
SOURCE: Car Rumbles, CV Joint?
no you cant grease a cv joint, it is a sealed unit and comes pre greased! when you turn sharp at slow speeds does it sound like rocks rolling around in a coffee ca? then its a cv axle! also check large boots at both end of each axle. if the boot is torn the cv axle is either bad or will need replaced very soon! yes a back yard mech can replace easily but you will need a front end alignment when you are done! hints for replaceing! pop axle out with a pry bar at trasmission., to put back it use old end nut only 1/4 of the way on and hit with a hammer to seat lock ring then check at tranny to make sure it is seate! hope this helps

You more than Likely have a Small leak in the Pan on the Bottom of the Tranny. as for the Noise in the Front, It sounds a LOT like the Wheel Bearings. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

Much easier to change the whole half shaft, and, after you exchange the old ones, not a great deal more costly... and, yes, that is what's wrong.

The reason I think it is the cv joint is because my mom had the same problem with her suburban a few years ago and it was the same noise. you cant hear it when you are sitting in side the car only if the window is open
