Flashing Orange light, computer wont boot

Dell 5150, wount boot and has constant flashing orange light, changed psu and same happened. When i leave the 4 pin moler plug disconnected from the mobo it will begin to boot, fan spins etc but it then just stops and has a solid orange light. I have checked the mobo for any signs of corrosion / blown capacitors etc.
Your help is most appreciated!

This solution is probably too late. However, it may help someone else. I had the same issue with my Dell Dimension 5150 and I replaced the front I/O USB Audio Panel and it booted right up.

    Hi,

    The 12v powers the processor.
I’m assuming you have removed cables plugged into the motherboard apart from
the 12v and the ATX power connector. If you still get the flashing amber, try reseating
the processor. If that still doesn’t work. Since you have tried with a
different powersupply, there could be couple of points of failure, the motherboard
or processor. Dell would have replaced the powersupply and motherboard for this
issue. Its most likely a blown capacitor, but isolating that would require and
electronics repair tech. All the best.

Flashing orange light on power button of Dell Dimension 5150 ...

If you experience the dreaded blinking orange power light, make sure to check your motherboard for blown capacitors as well as corrosion on the motherboard. Looks like the photo below.... if you see this then a replacement motherboard is needed.

Dell Dimension 5150 automatically turns off

That flashing amber light is usually a sign the power supply is failed or is failing. I would suspect the power supply is the problem in yours. It is the better of the two problems connected with the flashing amber light..the other is motherboard is failing. Arrrr!
hope this helps (it takes a standard- oh say 350 watt 20-24 pin power supply unit.)
Hope an answer helps.
Please leave rating, thankyou
