Pictures are not in focus

When taking pictures, the picture is blurring and the shutter open/close is delayed after pushing the button - sort of like it is in low light condition. However, the setting is for automatic and we are outdoors.

The Sony H2 is not covered under a CCD recall. Most of the cameras on that list have been removed from the recall because in some cases (like Nikon and Fuji) they can not even get the CCD any longer.
First thing to try is to reinitialize your camera, this is the quickest and safest way to decide if there is another problem - Go to menu and scroll down until you see the option "Initialize", accept it and it will reset your camera back to factory defaults. Many times a setting has been hit you forgot about, or didn't know was hit and this will set you back to square one.

The picture has a delayed action

It's not possible to take a photo in a second, because the camera needs to get in focus the object you're taking picture of.

You have a square on your display that indicates where the focus will be.
With whatever function you use, you need to press the shutter button halfway and wait for the camera to focus on the object. When it's focused you will hear the click and the square will turn green.
Now your pictures shouldn't be blurry.

My Vivitar takes blurry pictures. Kindly show me what to do to sharpen the focus. Thanks.

To focus on your subject, lightly push the shutter button (the button you use to take pictures) only half way down. When you push the shutter button half way down, this auto-focuses the camera and you can then fully press the shutter button to take your picture.

My pictures are not clear. They appear blur

With digital cameras, blurred photos are almost always a result of camera shake. You need to hold the camera still even after pressing the button, as there is often a short delay before the shutter fires.

Many digital cameras have a two-stage shutter press- first pressure causes the camera to focus, then the follow through pressure takes the picture. If you are rushing this, you may get unfocussed shots.

Finally, make sure that you have not left the camera in Macro mode. This is a special extreme close-up mode offered by some cameras, and it does not allow autofocus on objects at normal distances. The icon for Macro mode is a little flower.

If none of these is the problem, there may be a fault requiring service (probably not economically viable unless they will do it under warranty).

Shoots are blur when taking

The usual cause of blurred photos when using a digital camera is camera movement during shooting. You need to hold the camera still even after you press the shutter, as there is usually a short delay.

Another cause can be that the camera is set in Macro (close focus) mode when you are taking pictures at a distance.

Delayed shutter

Shutter lag is a universal problem with digital cameras...more so with the point-and-shoots than the slr types. To avoid the problem, press the shutter button half-way to lock in the focus then press the rest of the way when the moment is right and you will get no shutter lag.

Pictures are blur

Hi,

Your pictures are blurry because the camera did not focus properly on the subject.

First, turn on the camera in any picture taking mode (or video mode), then look at the screen or viewfinder. There should be four white corners in the center of the camera display. This is your targeting area.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Aim the camera at your subject so this center area is directly on it.

2. Press the shutter button lightly, not all the way down. Wait for a second or two WITHOUT RELEASING YOUR FINGER. If the white corners turn green, keep the finger on the button and press it all the way.

(Once the screen flashes black, a picture is taken and you can release the finger).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the targeting area turns red and blinks, then the camera has not focused. You can to try to focus again by following step 1 and 2. If a picture is taken when the targeting area is red, then the picture will be blurry.

If there is no targeting area, then you can still focus by aiming the camera at your subject. Now follow step 2. A green box will appear on the subject, then a sharp picture can be taken.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The red arrow that flashes means that the pictures or videos are being written onto the memory card.

Also, try to be steady when taking pictures, because slight hand movement can cause blurry images too.

Page 25 in the DMC-FZ7's english manual will also explain how to focus.

Delay in taking pictures

Shutter release button has two positions. Auto focus function activate first when u press butten halfway(u can see a focus indicator icon with beep sound). Now if u press it some more, camera will take snap at earliest .So pl confirm the subject to be focused by keeping the button half way pressed then press it some more at the right moment. Also cancel the red eye reduction function when u r using flash because it creates more delay .
