If your battery is showing a Red Strip it is probably unchargeable.
Try a to borrow a battery or go to a cell store and ask to use a battery, and just submerge it in rice for 3 or 4 days without the battery. the rice will absorb all the moisture but not in a few hours the longer the better.

open back and put phone in rice for 3 days after getting wet.....dont try to turn on for 3 days ..turning on prematurely will send uncontrolled short circuit or surge through boards destroying circuitry

SOURCE: phone is wet please help!!!

Try to let the phone dry out by itself, set it on the window sill let it dry out for a little while, a lot of times water still gets down (internally) inside the phone, so it looks dry on the outside but it's still wet on the inside of the internal components. Try to let it dry out for a couple hours in the sunlight, caution, though, don't let the screen sit with direct sunlight bearing down on it.

I would caution on using the blowdryer, too hot of a setting can damage the internal components, so use the lowest setting possible. you can also try a low suction vacuum cleaner, also...

Ensure you:

Immediately take the battery out, and leave it out, water and electrical components don't mix.
Take out the sim card and attempt to dry it, just be careful with it because it's sensitive.

Let it sit next to a low heat source for a couple of days, periodically checking up on it. But I would'nt try to power it back up until you are confident that all the water is gone and evaporated out of the phone, otherwise you could fry the internal circuits and damage your phone.

SOURCE: phone won't turn on at all

take the battery out then try again. If the battery isn't totally dead try turning the phone on and then plugging it in. It's happened to me before and sometimes it takes a few tries to get it to work but it should come on eventually.

Dry out a wet cell phone

So you dropped your blackberry in the pool...All is not lost...Hopefully.

1. Resist the urge to try and power it up, this is when damage can occur.
2. Immediately pull the battery our and dont ever think about hooking it to the wall/car charger.
3. Get a can of compressed air (dust off) and blow every nook and cranny until no water droplets can be seen. If its stuck in the screen do your best to get as much as you can. The next step will take care of the rest. Take off any covers and try to get it as dry as possible.
4. Put the phone in an airtight container filled with dry white rice (Uncle Bens Uncooked White is good enough).
5. Let the phone sit for a full day (24hr minimum). It is imperative to wait, and the longer you can resist the better of chance you may have. The more water logged the phone the more you should wait. If you open the container and it is at all damp, put in a new bowl of dry rice and wait another two days because it is water logged.
6. Pull the phone out of the rice and blow it all out with compressed air, dust is an enemy, but less lethal then the water.
7. Plug in the battery, but not the charger.
8. If all turns on then I'd still wait a day to put it on the charger just in case its a little damp (dont want the AC to short something).

I am on call and have dunked my blackberry 8330 more times than I care to remember this has saved it about 50% of the time.

What ever you do dont dunk it is rubbing alcohol or try and dry it with a hair dryer. Those methods can work on lesser electronics, but dissolve the fine circuitry on our cellphones.

My zte valet phone isn't charging and i got a new battery what could it be

There are a few things you want to look at here. Have you tried another charger? The Valet uses a micro usb charger, which is the most common charge among today's electronics. If you have tried other chargers and still no luck, then I would inspect for water damage. You would be surprised how little water it can take to damage a phone. Rain, sweat, etc. Just for good measure, if trying an alternate charger doesn't work, I would put the phone in a ziploc back of white rice, without the battery cover or batter, for about 12-16 hours. If there is any moisture there, it will pull it out. If after all that, it still will not charge, there is either a short in the phone or the charging port is not working due to many factors including the most common, being wiggled too much. Make sure to be careful when using the phone while it is charging. It can and will damage the phone.

Hope this helps and good luck!

LG VU screen doesn't work after water damage

I was cleaning the pool when my LG Vu took a dive. I fished it out in about 2 minutes...should have jumped in and it would have been in only seconds.....anyway. Dried it off with my shirt and pushed the lock button to unlock and see the screen...it was on but said Emergency Download. I took the battery out and dried it off also took out the SIM card and memory card. Shook the water out; some drips here and there, fortunately it wasn't water-logged. I let it sit for about an hour and got on the internet to find a remedy. I took advice to put back the memory and SIM cards and plug in to charger....the screen directed me to put in the battery....so far so good. The screen said the battery was charging. I waited patiently for that to finish. When complete, unhooked the charger and hit the unlock button again....what do you know the screen came up! I was estatic! But....the touch screen would not work!! Back on the internet for advice. Decided to do the hair dryer trick. I set the dryer on cool setting and let it blow on the screen. I also opened up the chargers portal and let air blow in there. I took the cover off the back to the battery and let it blow on there....being very careful not to let the battery fall out and not let the phone get hot. I did this for about 30 minutes. There was some fogging of the screen so I focused more on drying the screen with the dryer. The fog cleared up and when I touched the touch screen the top of the screen started working first...bottom still not responding...a little more of the dryer and all worked!!! Screen fogged again in about 20 minutes...dryed it again with dryer and it has been dry ever since. I have gone to every application, etc. on my phone and everything works just like it did before it took a dip! Hope this helps some of you! Key is patience, and some drying with TLC! Best of Luck!

Phone fell into tub and now have no screen info

key to saving your phone is to not charge it after it got wet. to get it at least partially working take out the battery and take a blow dryer and carefully warm the phone. do not keep the heat near the screen for long periods of time. after drying for about 20mins leave the phone alone plugged into the charger without the battery inserted for about 45mins. after that you can check the results. put the battery in and test to see whats working and what isn't.

hope this helps

Cingular 8525

Once you drop a phone in water if the battery is plugged in it will short circuit all the links that the water touches. It is quite possible that it is only the screen not working. But my guess is that the phone is a goner. You may want to search ebay or craigslist for a replacement as your model of phone will have a water damage indicator installed.
