Remove front panel from dell precision 690

Hello

Usually, side casing must be removed before pulling the front panel out.
If you don't notice any screws, there are only clips, but take care when prying it off as there are some wires that lead to the front panet at the power button, leds, etc.

Hope it helps

Open 'Administration Tools', select 'Computer Management', click on 'Disk Management' and see if it populates there. If, in fact, it does show up here, then chances are it simply does not have a drive letter assigned. If this is the case, you can simply right-click on the drive, select "Change Drive Letter...', and assign a drive letter to it. Please see the step-by-step below:

Dell precision 690 cd stuck in cd drive will not open

Take a paper clip and straighten it out. Look for a pin hole on the CD tray and insert the clip to manually open the drive.

I cant get my Dell Precision 690 to recognise a hard drive

Double check the bois to ensure you have all the Sata ports turned on. I have found in some Dell computers the only ports turned on are the ones in use when shipped from the factory.

Before installing a Windoze server (no matter what flavour) you always need to verify the compatibility (drivers) with the machine's hardware... A Windoze XP driver will rarely work for a server environment... Micro$oft built all servers version to run in server machine type... further more you also need to verify softwar compatibility as well... as not all workstation software is compatible with server environments... and your machine advertises that it is a WORKSTATION NOT A SERVER...

if your hard drives were in a RAID configuration at any point or your computer has a RAID controller in it nothing will work until you reconfigure the RAID setup. it is probably a good idea at this point to completely wipe the drives as there may be some lingering RAID configuration data remnants on them and this can also mess things up pretty good.
