The display of radicals and Pi is limited. For example only square roots are displayed as roots, standing alone or in some complicated fractions. Pi is shown as Pi, but pi^2 is not. These are limitations you have to accept. So you did not do anything wrong.

SOURCE: Setting the default value of my calculator to display decimals

Hello,
Since you bent on deactivating the very features that make your calculator so versatile and so powerful, here it is.
Press [SHIFT][MODE][2:LineIO] and you will see no more fractions, nor radicals etc. You asked for it.
Hope it helps.

Testimonial: "I bought the calculator because it was on sale and I like Casio calculators; not for its fractional abilities. I can easily switch it back now. Thanks"

SOURCE: I cannot find how to change my answer display to a...

If the result is already calculated and displayed, press the [S<=>D] key It will convert a fraction or radical to decimal. This is always possible. If the result is decimal it may be converted to a fraction or a radical (Not always possible).

If the expression to be evaluated is still in the command line and you have not pressed the [=] key, you can force the result to be displayed in decimal format by pressing [SHIFT][=] instead of just [=].

More permanently. If you do n o care for fractions and radicals, set the Input/Outpout mode to LineIO. To do do press [SHIFT][MODE] to access the (SETUP) screen and select [2:LineIO]

I can get pi, but then when i need to multiply it by a number (example: 6), It just gives me that number, with the pi sign beside it. it wont give me an answer.

When in MathIO the calculator displays pi symbolically. If you want the numerical value of an expression, press [SHIFT][=], not just [=]. You can try pressing the [SD] key to toggle between fraction`/radical to decimal. You can also configure the calculator to use LineIO by default.

How to convert fraction to decimal

You can convert between Standard Form (with fractions and pi) or Decimal form by using the "S<->D" button. Use Mode 1 if you mostly prefer fraction answers and you can use the SD button to convert to decimal or use Mode 2 if you mostly prefer decimal answers and use the SD button to see the fraction.
I hope this helps and good luck!

Problems with fractions on the Casio fx-115es

Hello,
To convert fractions to decimals or decimals to fractions, you use the [S<->D] key. Each time you press the key the result is displayed in the other format.
Alternatively, If you multiply or divide two integer numbers put a decimal mark at the end of one of the numbers (any one). The result will be displayed in decimal format.

Hope it helps.

When I divide, it turns the answer into a fraction. How do I get back so the answer will be a decimal? With a Casio fx-115 ES

Press the S<>D key, (located right above "DEL"). This will shift the answer from fraction to decimal. This sounds like a pain but having both functions available can be a big plus.
