A friend gave me this cell phone, but they can't remember the unlock code to it. It is a Motorola V325i and used Verizon Wireless as the network provider. Is there a generic code to unlock this phone? If not, are there any suggestions to be able to use this phone??

Dial *228, then when prompted to do so by the automated system, press 1. After it says: "Your phone has been programmed successfully", press "OK" or "Done". When you press that, the phone will automatically power off, then back on. Once the phone has powered back on, the unlock code will now be the last four digits of the phone number.
