Kp-46wt510 rear projector from sept. 2003

It was working fine. Shut it off last night and in the morning it came on but it looks like you have on 3-d glasses on , a rainbow of colors about one inch apart from each other also a small gap on top and bottom with a slight arch. I open it up and cleaned it some no difference in picture

You have a failure in the convergence circuit. There's a circuit board ( the convergence board) which has 3 IC'c on it that drive yokes on each of the picture tubes red-green- blue. You probably lost power to these IC's or one or more may have opened up. Sometimes poor solder joints on these IC's will develop causing loss of convergence. Hope this gives you an idea as to where you problem is. Stargazer

My 51" sony rear projector has blue shadow on image. pictures are fine but it has blue shadow. how can I fix that?

Clean the mirror or the blue color gun. You may have it next to a powerful magnet from a speaker system that can also distort the blue. If thats not it it may be bad convergence ICs

I have a KP-46WT510 and have replaced both STK chips and 1 fuse on the power supply board. Under the heat sink there is another fuse burnt. The value of the fuse needed is 3.15 A. I put in a 3 A fuse and...

I have worked on about 5500 projectors in the past 10 years.
There is a dead short already somewhere so you cant blow anything else up if its a fast blow fuse.
Disconnect the Convergence Amp from the pwr sply then power it up for a few seconds with your 4amp fuse. Does the fuse still blow? If so, check the HOT transistor. (3 pin chip againts the largest heat sink)
Good luck

Sony KP-46WT510 Rear Video Projector Convergence Problem

Subject

Video bowed in, convergence out, PS5001

Symptoms / Customer Description
Video bowed in and convergence is out.
[Primary Symptom Code: 1436 ]

Solution

Found PS5001 on G board was open.

HQ Comments: Could be cold solder joint on one of the STK IC's on the D Board. They run hot and the solder connection might have broken down causing intermittent condition which could have opened the fuse on the
-22v line.

Convergence

You need to go to http://www.partstore.com, enter your model number, look up under that model number STK #(@-560. Order Two of the part number 874901908. These also need heat sink grease in the back of these ICs when they are replaced. If you know how to solder, then good luck, and please be carefull!.. Please do not forget to rate this thread.
