SOURCE: Battery?, wiring??

If your Alternator didn't charging the battery, even though you brand new battery will not last. So there is two possible cause, 1) Your Alternator is not functioning. 2) there is a wiring problem that causing your battery to discharge easily, but you check it after you switch off the key remove the battery negative terminal then touch it back to batt term. and see if there is little blue spark, if does your wiring system got problem. If not, so your Alternator do not charge the battery.

SOURCE: Husqvarna yth2448 pto switch kills motor/battery will not charge

you may hav a bad alt. problem with the mower dying when you engage the pto is most likley a bad sensor or wire unplugged on the seat sensor.the way it works is if the blades are turning and it dosent sense you being on the seat the mower shuts down.this has been standard on mowers for quite a few years now. it keeps the blades from cutting you up if you fall off the seat while mowing. as for charging i would try cleaning the battery connections and get the battery checked first.

SOURCE: Husqvarna CTH180XP rideon lawn mower 42" rear

Hi Sue and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. You have been quite lucky to get 7 years out of your battery. Given the age of the battery that is currently installed this is most likely your problem. You have voltage but very little amperage due to thinned out battery plates.... (
Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Odd experience: engine powered down going up hill, then almost stalled. PTO will not engage, now engine will not start or even turn over.

I had a similar experience and I had to replace the PTO.
What size motor do you have and what brand is it?

I have a 1999 Gilera Runner 180FXR, New bat 12V 9 amps. Starter turns and spins pinion gear but won't engage starter ring. If it does it turns ver slow or won't turn engine over. In manual it

Yep, not enough amps to engage the starter clutch, and when ti does engage, not enough amps to turn the engine. You need a 12 amp battery.

1993 nissan pick up won't start

Possibly a bad connection on the positive side coming from the battery or a weak ground. Check where the leads join the terminal clamps. Has the battery been verified as good? It doesn't take a lot of amps to run lights but it does to turn over the engine. Jump starting it does not require a fully charged battery.

We just replaced the belt on the deck of our mower. After we reattached the deck, the mower won't start. It won't even turn over. We checked the safety latch on the back of the machine, and it...

First check your battery, it should be around 12.5 volts, if not it is the battery. Because you changed the deck belt, is the mower a manual engaged deck? Make sure the safety switches are working properly. Seat switch, brake switch. When trying to start, do you get 12 volts to the starter? If not, check the 20 amp fuse.

YARD MAN 42 '' RIDEING MOWER WON'T START PROBABLY SAFETY PROBLEM

safety switches that all riding mowers seem to have include a seat/brake safety which means that you have to be sitting in the seat or the brake must be engaged for it to start. also there is the blade engaged safety, which means the mower will not start normally with the blades engaged.
if you meet those conditions check the switches themselves
non safety related, do you hear a click or a clunk when you turn the key to the start position, this is the starting coil pulling in to send power from the battery to the engine starter, all safety switches will interupt power from the key switch to the starting coil
if you hear the coil energize and the engine does not start you have low battery voltage or loose connection or some other mechanical problem

CubCadet 1554 - won't start!

If you hear the PTO click when you turn the ignition on, sounds like the PTO button is pulled out like you were engaging the blades. The engine will not start if the PTO button is pulled out....
