Close to the bottom in the corner near the motor stator (= electric field) between the machine housing and the stator there is a narrow metal strip connection point visible which makes contact with the metal outer surface of the stator, the strip sits against the corner on the underside between the motor stator and the machine housing from the front so pushed to the back comes out so at the contact side of all sliding contacts you will see are that part, I myself always recommend letting eight jure the capacitor because it only makes sense for radio interference suppression only at work places.

Fein is an excellent tool and has an excellent warranty that will be void the moment you open the gearbox. I do not recommend this action. Fein is quick and responsive, especially for a less than one year issue. Farmerbear at FixYa.com

Hi. I have an older fein multimaster msxe 636 II. The blades have round bolt holes. The new models have the star type holes. Can I use the star type blades since they are more available?

With respect to the above "answer", this tool has NO locking lever! It uses only a set screw to hold blades in place. It so happens that newer "star" mounting blades will fit into this tool easily, One must center the blade so the fingers of the star are outside of the raised circular surround of the hole. A washer (use a larger tapered one) and the set screw will then press the blade against the back surface of the bit holder. Tighten up this assembly, turn it on a cut away!

Multimaster

these are pressed bearings and you have to put the head in a vice (carefully as it is cast aluminum) and use clamps to keep in in place while you hammer on the driving shaft flange (where the blades attach) it is a slow process, there is a locking spring that has to be released first. Then when the pressed bearing is loose you will still have to tap until the shaft comes out of the level (part with two prongs). afterwards you must pry out the armature carefully with a screw driver against the fan, be careful, this tool is not really meant to be worked on by us owners, obviously, and for this reason it sucks big time,

Not oscillating

Hope this helps!
Inside the gearbox there is what should be a 2 pronged fork you may only be able to see 1 of these the other may be broken, the fork goes each side of the armature bearing. If the fork isnt broke it may be the armature bearing that fits inside the fork.
Hope that helps. Sean
