How do you open the back of the Mamiya 645 camera body to put in a fressh roll of film???

    Agreed on finding a user's manual for the 645 ..it's a *****.. I had to pay nearly 50 dollars for a user's manual for a used car that I bought recently. Taking into account the cost of even a used 645, it would be almost worth to pay that much for a complete and in good condition manual!!

Its a small plastic latch in black colour.u just have to scroll that down and it will open then insert the roll.

I bought a second hand Mamiya 645 Af but as soon as I load a film it shows a error message ERR 01 .... what is that ?
From the manual:
"If the error display is not canceled when the shutter release button is pressed again, insert the Dark slide, half-press the shutter release button while pressing the roll film holder's manual film advance button to wind up the film, then contact your nearest Mamiya agent or service center."

I just purchased a used back roll film holder for my Mamiya 654 Pro TL, and I cannot pull the dark slide out. This dark slide has a blue handle, where my other back's dark slide has a red handle, and...
It's been a while since I used a mamilla 645, so forgive me if this is wrong, but I seem to remember the dark slide would only come out with the camera wound on, ready to take a picture.

Mamiya 645 pro shutter doesn't fire
First thing that comes to mind on this camera is that it's a modular camera. This means the film back can be changed mid roll so there is what is called a Dark Slide between the film back and the body.

The dark slide needs to be removed before the camera will function. Also depending on how "new" the film back is there may be a dark slide holder/sleeve on the back side of the film back.

So you remove the dark slide and slide is into the holder so first you don't loose it and also it doesn't get bent.

Mamiya 645 AF back won't advance film.
The battery in the film back is only used to supply power when the back is off the camera, when it is on the body power is supplied by the six batteries in the body so try them and also make sure the film insert is properly seated.

Squeeze the two handles on either side of the "120" or "220" label on the film holder to pull it out, then the spool is easily removed.

Mamiya M645j film counter not advancing to start when roll loaded
It's a common problem in the 645 - if you want to do it yourself, without a permanent fix, put a DROP ( not a lot ) of lighter fluid, or rubbing alcohol on the tip of a fine screwdriver and apply it to the gear you use to rewind the camera, and turn back and forth a few times. If that doesn't loosen it, it'll have to be disassembled.

Just got a 645= shutter "release jammed:, I put in new battery and also missing the crank arm, must have had a motor handle before. its like new, meter in prism works new battery,have old 645 J to...
if the shutter is jammed just off the device,and slightly pull the shutter door with your hand 3-4 times.apply a drop of oil on both the sides.and then on the device.and check it will work.
and for the replacement off the handle you will have to check on the old device that where are locks in the back you just have to remove that locks,also check for the hidden screws in the centre or back of the handle.which may be blocking it to be removed easily.
