Should the cable from the machine to iron get hot

Hi,
If the iron is a steam-iron with a steam tank in the base-unit, then steam is carried up the connecting pipe & it will get hot in normal use.
If you put water into the iron itself, then there is only an electric cable connecting the base & it should never, ever get hot. A little bit warm maybe, but never hot.
Best of luck.

Why my black and decker steam iron becomes warm when i turn it on but will not get hot

Faulty internal connections are a possibility but unlikely. The other possibilities are a faulty element or a faulty thermostat and it will need dismantling to discover which.

My iron keeps gushing water out of the steam holes

If you have over-filled it, or it's not hot enough, then water will come out the bottom. Make sure that the temp is in the "steam" range, and you give it a few minutes to warm up.

Is there any cleaning solution to use on the iron plate to clean it?

Yes there is a paste you use on a hot/warm iron and it cleans the sole plate well. Wal Mart has some in the laundry section where they have the spray starch. It's a little 3" tube on a card.

My russel hobbs iron is allways hot and i cant put it low or warm.

This is a problem with the thermostat- possible that the bimetal is stuck or short or changed in alignment causing the power to be connected at all times and not cutting off.If you can remove the unit then this can be seen by checking the cut off of the control.

It shuts itself off

The SHARK ELECTRONIC Iron is equipped with an electronic auto-off. The electronic auto-off switches the iron off if it has been left standing unmoved in any position (sideways, flat or upright) for approximately 7-9 minutes. A red light on the LED display panel will flash when the iron switches itself off. (Fig. 7) To switch the iron back on, just shake the iron side-to-side several times.
