I am running windows xp with Media Centre. WinTv MCE2005 is installed. Since I have used Ulead video 10 editing software I cannot get access to live TV using Media Centre. I have uninstalled Ulead but...

Try reinstalling your TV card again, & reinstall drivers. That should work. Yes quite possibly a System Restore should work, and restore to back to the time before you had problems.

Windows media centre decoder in use

Media centre can use a numnber of codecs to do this job, you just need to make sure it has a choice. You need to download & install a codec pack. Microsoft has one which you can find on the website but the most comprehensive one is KL Codec pack. Google it & install the standard version, just use all the default settings & that will fix your problem.

Am trying to reinstall windows xp media centre ediition following reformatting hard drive. I get the message `boot manager missing. So cannot reinstall my xp media edition os.

Where and when do you see that message?

Windows need to be installed on one of the primary partitions (not logical ones). What's more - the partition they are installed on needs to be active. More info on disk partitioning can be found here.

One way to fix boot manager problems is to start recovery console - it is described here. Next you need to log into your installation and type to commands: fixboot and fixmbr.

Windows media centre 2005

Hi, and thank you for the reply,

I am not very tech, and cannot find any info to tell me what tv tuner it is,

there is nothing in the documents , and when I check..."device manager" for information on the installed hardware, there seems no mention of the tv tuner.

Can you advise me where the advice is?

It used to work fine when I had it at first.....so know it must be me! Thanks again Brian

Many issues few solutions

Sounds like you have a real mess there that you can lose a lot of time trying to solve. I'd suggest saving all your files to another drive, and then reinstall the OS and only allow the system to update through the Windows update manager/web site, which should be able to match up the right update files. Do all this patching of the OS without installing any other hardware devices to keep it clear where things go wrong. Once the OS is patched completely, install new hardware and patch it separately watching for the tell-tale incompatibilities with XP/MCE2005. Especially watch for legacy devices that might not have modern drivers.

Hope this helps - good luck...
