There are other ways to adjust the volume.

Right click on the megaphone located at the bottom right near the time. You can adjust the volume there.

Look on your keyboard and normally you can Press and Hold the FN function key located at the lower left portion of the keyboard then hit one of the 3 keys with the megaphone that adjusts the volume (1 key increases the volume, 1 key decreases the volume and 1 key mutes the volume).

You can adjust the volume in the Control Panel's audio or sound properties. Click Start/Control Panel and look for Sound or Audio.

Even if you see the sound driver in control panel, it doesn't mean that it is already okay. You may still need to reinstall or update it for it to properly work. Here are the things that you need to check though.

- Volume - make sure that it is not muted. Note that for some models, there is a function key on the keyboard that you press to mute and unmute the sound.
- Reinstall or update the sound driver. This usually resolves issues regarding sounds.

Click open the Volume icon in the right bottom corner of the screen. Windows has a habit of muting the volume and other things. Please unmute volume na dht e sound will be heard.

Check if it's in mute. you may also try to press Fn+Esc keys to unmute the sound.

Could be a contact piece of the MUTE button from your remote that is causing it.
Go out and Big Lots or Radio Shack to get a cheap universal remote control(big lots would be between $5-$10) Pick up the code for it,and when the tv happens again,your the OLD remote MUTE button to turn it back on and then put away this remote control and use the new universal remote control.
However,if the problem is coming from the manual MUTE button on the TV,you need a repair tech, to fix it!

On your keyboard is a special key with the letters Fn on it. It has a particular color. Also on your keyboard usually on the Page up and Page down keys should be speaker icons in the same color as the Fn keytop. Also nearby the Page Up Page Down key and usualy the end key is a speaker icon with a line through it.

You press and hold the Fn key down and while holding it down press the Page up Page down or the actual keys that have the speakers on them. To mute or unmute you press and hold the Fn key down and while holding it down press the key that has the speaker with the line through it.

That should give you keyboard control over your speakers.

Additionally, if you double click the speaker icon next to the time display you will bring up the controls for all volumes on your laptop. Check to see that wave is not muted and master is nearly all the way up, the wave scale should be one tick short of the top. For CD Audio, you will want to do the same with that volume slider.
