That is hard to say but average is 2000 hours which works out to about two years for most people.

SOURCE: Projection lamp nearing end of life replace lamp still coming on

Along with the instructions for the lamp installation, you should have revceived instructions on how to reset the lamp counter. If not, this operation is listed in the owner's manual. If you can not locate that manual, please confirm your model number and I will post the instructions. Since the counter has not been reset, the TV will continue to show the "error" message.

Might also want to try amazon.com. Sony is 199
Amazon was around 150.

And you can easily do this yourself.
Theres a little door at the right side if your looking at the front. (left if your looking at the rear) Open that up and youll see another door that has a little latch on it. turn it about a 1/4 turn to the left and it will release that door and pull it straight out. then there is the bulb, and that has a little wire ring that is the release. Pull that up and out.

Here is a link to a website that sells the replacement lamp for $99 dollars. http://electrified.com/Catalog/Items/?CampaignID=Dealtime&ItemID=36414

There might be a local store in your area that carries replacement lamps but probably will not have yours in stock and would have to order it. After you replace the lamp you will need to reset the lamp timer for your TV using the lamp replacement option on the TV general settings menu.

Hi, it is not. The manufacturer can only approximate on the life hours that lamps can last(usually 6000 to 8000) but it is not a rule. It's best to start shopping for one when the notice appears, that way you'll have a spare replacement ready when it does quit.
