No it wont fit. maximum memory for your computer is 512 ram and you need SODIMM. also its a very old computer you have and memory to your computer could be very expensive or hard to get.
so I suggest you buy a new computer

SOURCE: dell inspiron blinking orange battery light. keybrd not respondg

Try this: remove your battery, unplug power, press and hold power button for at least 20 seconds, plug power cord back in but not the battery, press power and see if you get normal boot. If this is the case, your battery probably needs replaced.

SOURCE: How do I restore my dell inspiron 2650 to factory

If your system is PC Restore Equipped, it will show show a black page with a blue bar across the top after the Dell Splash Screen. the bar will have www.dell.com in White letters. If you see this page for about a second during the boot process, the system is PC Restore Equipped. At the page with the blue bar, press CTRL+F11 and that will initiate the restore process. Providing the image is not damaged, then restore process takes about 20 to 30 minutes and will return the system to out of box configuration. If there are any errors or if the PC Restore page is not available, then you'll have to do a clean install of Windows using the Dell Windows XP CD that came with the system, then load drivers and applications.

It start beeping until XP window come up,

It could be a bad memory module. Try removing and reinstalling them. Try one module at a time to see if beeping stops . Check all other connections to make sure they are properly connected. Hope this helps.

Adding computer memory

The only thing you could do is put in a 256MB module in the slot that you have access to. Only one socket is user upgradable. The second socket is only upgradable by a Dell service center. They would have to install a second 256 module to get you to the 512MB max.

How to do a clean install on 2650 laptop

Boot to the Windows XP CD, reformat the existing NTFS partition and install to that partition. After installing XP, install the drivers

There is a link at the top, that indicates the driver install order and you can download the drivers and put them on a USB Key or a CD-R before installing XP

I can not restore my inspiron 2650 to its fatory settings

There are several ways to restore your Dell PC to factory settings.
Are you looking to just undo something that happened a day or two ago and not loose any data?
You can try the windows system restore.
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.
The other option is to back up your data and pics then while your laptop is booting up hit Shift and F11 repeatly and follow the dell system restore prompts.

Here is the XP instructions:

Here are the Vista instructions:

Dell Inspiron 2650 Notebook Start Up Problem

If this also occurs when you first power it up, then one of the solutions that the DELL manual suggests is to remove an reinstall the memory chips to insure that they are making good contact. I had the same problem upon powering up and when I removed the memory modules and reinstalled them, the problem went away.

Hopefully this wil help you too.

Inspiron 2650 Laptop keyboard is locked.

If the keyboard is locked ALL the time, try unpluging the power supply, remove the battery, then push and hold the power button and any key on the keyboard for at least 30 seconds. then reinstall the battery, plug the pwoer cord back in and reboot it.

I had the same problem and that is what the DELL techs had me do. I had the problemm frequently for a while and then it just quit recurring. I haven't had the problem for a long time now.

I hope this helps.

Dell inspiron 2650 start-up problem

Mine did the same thing only I don't think it was even checking the hard drive and I found an entry in the DELL owners manual troubleshooting section that said if you powe rit up and the power light stays on but nothing appears on the screen, tyr removing and reinstalling BOTH memory modules and reinstalling them to insure that ey wer making contact.

Mine worked perfectly after I removed both memory modules and reinstalling them.

Be aware though that one of the modules require the removal of the keyboard to access it so it isn't really something that everyone should try on their own.

Installing Memory

Hi

Yes, you can replace/upgrate the memory module under the keyboard.

Before you proceed, note that Dell Inspiron 2650 uses DDR200 3.3V SODIMM modules. Also, memory module capacities supported are 128MB and 256MB with a Maximum memory of 512MB. If the current memory installed is 128MB, you need to order 2x 256MB modules to replace/upgrade both memory slots. If the installed capacity is 256MB, you just need another 256MB for the slot underneath the laptop.

Check "Removing the Keyboard" for guide removing the keyboard to access the 2nd memory slot.

Read "Preparing to Work Inside the Computer" before committing to the above procedure.

Let me know how you get on.
