Your ASUS cannot find the hard drive to boot up.
First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

SOURCE: computer beeping and saying reboot and select proper boot device

When you reboot, go to BIOS, restore factory BIOS settings. If that doesn't help, you'll need to reinstall your OS.

SOURCE: How can i reboot my laptop?

It is either not seeing the HDD and/or the boot sector on the hdd has been damaged. Any repair you do will only be possible after you boot to an environment. If you can get a bootable CD made, that would be one option. Bootable USB is another. Once booted, you will then be able to examine the HDD to see what the problem is.

SOURCE: when I turn on it says Reboot and select proper

This problems would most likely be caused because of your boot order has been changed in the BIOS settings. If you have a floppy drive as your first boot device and your CD ROM as your first boot device, your computer will try and find media on these devices to boot from, if you don't have anything in the drive this will happen as it did"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" this just means that your hard drive that has your operation system installed is not your primary boot device, however it should be. To change this you need to enter BIOS set up and find where these settings are and change your boot order so that your hard drive with your operating system is installed on is the first boot drive, as for your second boot drive, its really your choice.
Boot and hold F2 to get to BIOS,next Go to Exit tab and choose Load Setup Defaults.Exit and Save.

SOURCE: Machine will not boot.. Black

In this case you need to repair your OS. You need to insert the OS which is a bootable disk, in case of net book you need to connect a USB with OS loaded in it and select boot from USB in bios, for entering in bios you need to press the F 2 button while restarting the computer.

There is nothing that you can be helped with. You will need to phone Asus to get recovery CD's. Else find the recovery CD's that came with the laptop.

I have asus laptop. When I try to start it up it says 'reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key'

The laptop can not find an operating system, Windows or some other system, which means that the operating system has been corrupted. If you made a recovery disc you will need to put it in the DVD and reboot. If you did not make a recovery disc or thumb drive you will need a disc with the operating system on it.

Help with reboot message for Asus G1 notebook.

Sounds like its trying to boot from the Optical drive (cd/dvd drive) thats empty or has no disc in it. You will need to get into the BIOS and change the boot sequence. Select HDDR 1st to boot from your C: drive where your OS is.

On my asus eee pc 2g surf it says "missing operating system reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" please help!

It sounds like you have a bad hard drive. Make sure you don't have any CD/DVDs in the drive if that model has one and you don't have any USB devices plugged in at boot.
