Panasonic pt51hx my tv has "shadows" and displays all 3 colors both on the cable and dvd modes. It is fuzzy and I can make it out, but I have no idea what it is. Please help. Thanks smart people!

it soudns like a cabling issue. What connections are you using?

really? that's a settings issue..open up the menu(got a manual with this item?) and reset for defaults.

Consult the owner manual for the player (and or try it on another set) as many players have settings that can cause B&W or a single color display for the image.

We have a Panasonic DVD-S35 wont play color UK dvd's, US dvd's are ok any idea what's wrong?

Dirty heads or the recording was from a different brand VCR and the Panasonic cant get the right tracking. Try manual tracking just a little in either direction to you get the right one.

connect the RF lead from the wall to your cable box then out from that to your dvd then out from your dvd to your tv. now connect a scart lead from the cable box to AV 2 on the DVD then connect AV 1 on the DVD to your TV if you have a second scart on your tv connect that to the cable box. NOW on the DVD select AV2 now whatever is on the cable box will be recorded onto DVD/VCR. Put the DVD recorder into VCR mode and set it to auto tune all the Digital Video Broadcasts. You cannot physically tune the cable boxes own channels into the DVD via RF it has to be via a scart.

does the cd/dvd player have component hookups or are you just using HDMI cable, lots of tv's are having trouble with the HDMI protocol, I only use component cabling, it has HD capability up to 1080i resolution

The HDMI cable was causing "Display connected non-HDCP compliant" error message to appear.
When I reconnected my DVD to TV using regular cable with 3 color connectors(i don't know what is the proper name for that cable) that error message no longer appears on my screen and I was able to watch my movie normally.

Sounds like you've entered the "service mode" where you're seeing the chroma (color) signal only. What type of connectors are the F and S? RCA? F? This set is no longer made which makes it hard to research. By any chance, is there a small switch on the back that says "normal - service"?
