i HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, TURNS OUT IT WAS THE FLAME SENSOR, CLEANED IT, AND ALL WAS GOOD

SOURCE: Coleman forced air furnace blower

Rmove the two screws holding the blower in place and slide it out. With the power off, rotate the wheel and inspect for debris or an impingement. If everything turns easy, you have a bad motor or start capacitor. If you have rubbing, adjust the wheel. If the motor will not turn, replace it.

SOURCE: Amana Air Command 80 SSE gas furnace will not stay running

In the path of the flame on the last burner that starts, there will be a small rod. That rod is the flame sensor. Take a scrub pad and polish it. Also check the electrical connection that goes back to the circuit board. Disconnect any ground wire from the circuit board to furnace cabinet, sand it and replace it.

sounds like it is the pressure switch try jumping it out on some models you fool the heater in too working or see if the tubes are blocked , there should be some codes on the front panel or the fan panel

I have a coleman presidential 2 furnace the pilot is lite the burner is lite new thermostat and the motor wont kick on all i here is a humming that's it

i don't know. it may be your blower or your motor that needs to be inspecvted. be very careful. shut off power to furnace. turn thermostat to lowest setting. shut off circuit breaker for furnace or remove fuse for furnace. open blower panel; and pull drive belt [ i f furnace has one ]

I have a coleman furnace model 4066A656

Make sure your air filter is clean. Is the thermostat satisfied? or is the room temp. still below the thermostat setting? When ever you have to turn the power off and then back on to a furnace that usually indicates that the furnaces ignition control locked out. The first thing that I would try is cleaning the flame rod.

Furnace wont work

Have to know the model and serial of the furnace.
locate code list usually inside or on the back of a door.

Won't egnite, light is flashing 3 times.

On a call for heat, the 24 volt thermostat2.gif sends a signal to the control module. The control module will indicate a call for heat with a light on the control either blinking or remain solid depending upon model. The inducer (exhaust) blower will purge all gasses from the furnace and pressurize a pressure switch. Once the pressure switch tells the module to continue, the electronic ignition will energize and send 120 volts to the ignitor. The ignitor will glow and you will be able to see it if viewed thru the small inspection port. Once the ignitor gets hot enough, it sends a signal to the module opening up the gas valve (24 volts). Either a pilot will come on or the burner tube will ignite then spread the flame to all burners. Lastly a safety sensor will be looking for a certain temperature within a few seconds and the furnace will continue to operate and the room air blower will turn on in a minute or two.

What could go wrong? The unit will not run if there is no signal from the thermostat (bad thermostat or broken wire), the control module does not sense a signal from the thermostat (bad control), the inducer does not energize (bad motor), the pressure switch does not close (blocked vent piping, bad switch, plugged condensate hose), the ignitor does not energize (bad control, bad ignitor), the gas valve does not open or there is no gas (bad gas valve, broken wire, no gas), the pilot does not lite (dirty pilot), the burner does not lite (bad burner, plugged orifice, not enough combustion air), the flame does not spread to each burner (bad flame spreader, dirty flame spreader, more bad burners), the flame safety sensor does not detect flame (dirty or bad flame spreader, bad flame sensor, broken wire, bad control), or the room air blower does not energize (bad fan motor, bad control).

Most newer furnaces will have a diagnostic center or control built into the control module. You may be able to view it as it is running thru a small viewing port. Some models will require the removal of an access panel prior to finding it. On the reverse of the access panel, there will be a diagnostic chart that will aide you in understanding any error code recorded (usually a blinking light). 3 blinks may be a restriction in either the air intake, exhaust pipe, condensate hoses air filter or a bad pressure switch or connection.

My heater will not light. It is eletric ignition, there is power coming into the unit.

In order for the furnace to light, a few things must happen. The thermostat must have a call for heat thus making a connection (closing a switch) sending a signal to a computer circuit board. The board will in turn blink a light indicating a call for heat is registered. It will then send power to a fan motor that will remove old air from the burner area and introduce fresh air to the burner. Once the blower comes up to speed, the pressure closes a a pressure switch. Once the switch closes, it sends power to an igniter, either a glow type or spark type. It also sends power to one side of the gas valve to open up the pilot gas valve and send gas to the pilot assembly. Once the computer senses there is heat at the pilot valve, it will open up the second gas valve and send gas to the main burner. The trick is to know where it is going wrong. First you must watch this sequence to follow the workings. To do this you may have to remove some panels on the furnace and hold a door switch closed temporarily to trick the furnace to run. Follow the sequence above to find where it ain't happening and look at what must be done to fix it. It could be as simple as a bad thermostat (no call for heat) or a plugged exhaust vent not allowing the pressure switch to close. Let us know how you make out with the diagnosis!
