Dell Precision Workstation 670 Memory Maximum Memory 16GB Memory Slots 6 Slots. Must install 2 at a time non-removable base memory 0MB Comments:- This chipset supports a maximum of 8 ranks. Dual Rank modules are only supported in the first two banks, sockets DIMM_1 through DIMM_4. Sockets DIMM_5 and DIMM_6 do not support Dual Rank modules.

If Dual Rank modules are installed in sockets DIMM_3 and DIMM_4, sockets DIMM_5 and DIMM_6 are disabled. If 4GB is installed, the recognized memory may be reduced to 3.5GB or less (depending on system configuration and memory allocation). A 64-bit operating system is required to utilize more than 4GB of memory.

If you install more than 4GB of memory, Dell requires an additional cooling fan.

Does your computer support that much ram? Most computers only support 2 GB ram. Check with the manufacturer for info.

The RAM mybe be faulty or incompatible/wrong type for your computer.

I just install 1.5 GB in my Powermac Quicksilver G4 and now it won't power on. What's wrong?

Make sure access door is closed and latched completely & try pulling power cable for 30 sec then reattach and try restart. If those don't work - contact macsales.com (excellent Apple/Mac folks)

Change ram from 512 to 1 gig bios cannot read added ram

The original 2 sticks of 256 Mb of RAM gives you a total of 512
Mb of RAM. Two 512 Mb of RAM gives you a total of 1 Gb of RAM.
With two sticks of 512 Mb of RAM are you sure you got a total of 192 Mb of RAM, this is a lot less than the original RAM total of 512 Mb?
Should this be 1920 Mb of RAM?
If this 192 Mb is correct then the RAM modules are either not compatible with the laptop or if the RAM modules are not from the same manufacturer then they may not work together.

Most laptops have video cards that use part of the main RAM for video RAM, that is why the available RAM is less than the installed RAM modules. The amount of RAM the video card grabs depends upon the type of video card and in some cases the amount of video RAM can controlled in the BIOS setting.

Installed RAM not Recognised

It may not be a valid combination of sizes or speeds.
Look up your server at www.crucial.com using their memory finder.
They should have detailed information.
You can always call them or start a chat session if you need more details.

Memory upgrade oddity - compaq m2010us laptop

Compaq laptop have been known to be fussy with RAM, especially if you are mixing different brands/makes of RAM modules.
Try each RAM module one at a time to see if they work. Put these aside and when you have tested them all, then pair them up to see if they will work together. Try and use the same speed, brand and RAM size.
