Hacker got my gmail password & changed it. Now locked out.

Duped into giving a hacker my gmail password. Thereupon hacker changed my password (locking me out) and sent a message to everyone in my address book that I am stranded in Madrid Spain and need $1,950. to pay expenses including a plane ticket back to the US. A blatant scam. Desire access to my account [[email protected]], ability to change my password to a new one, access to stored messages, and ability to do damage control by sending notices to everyone that the Madrid message is a scam. Using a friend's computer and gmail address for messages or chats. [[email protected]] My phone 719-229-1674

How do you get "duped" into giving your password to your e-mail away?

  • Iron

Once you give your password away, hopefully you took g-mail up on there repeated offers to use a phone number. If you didn't you will have to contact them. Unless, by chance the security questions are still the same. You can press "forgot password" and opt to answer the security questions. That's you options at this point.

Ask for password change. I think you have provided a secondary email. if not google will ask you for a secondary email in the password reset process. And you will have a new password.

Any hacker worth their salt will have changed the security passwords and any form of access back into the account. That's why a Goggle asks for a phone number. Otherwise its a process of sending identification and such to Goggle.

Well that is possible but it is worth a try! We may never know what the hacker has done.

Be aware of hackers

I want to alert you all about hackers ready to hack email ids . Daily many email ids are hacked . Daily . In the same way , someone from New York hacked my Gmail account . Be aware of hackers .
To prevent hacking of your account , use the followig tips :

1. Insert your email id only in trusted website
This is to prevent hackers know your email id . It can be that the website in which you are entering your email id belongs to a hacker . If it is so , then your account password would be easily hacked . It is not that only Gmail account can be hacked . Anyone can very easily hack the password of any account , no matter it is a Gmail account or Yahoo or Hotmail or any other account . So it would be better and safe to enter your email id only on trusted websites .

2. Change your password at regular period of time
Changing the password can sometimes prevent your account from getting hacked . If a person anyhow gets your password and at that same time you can it , then the hacker would be unable to open your account . It can only happen only with some people .

3. Never neglect warnings and alerts
On Gmail , if a person with a different IP address logges in to your acount , then it shows a warning message on the empty space on the top . If any such warning message is shown , then instead of neglecting it , prform the following steps :
1. Click on the "Show info" link near the message .
2. Note down the IP address of the hacker and change the password or delete the account immediately . I reccommend you to delete the account .

4. Delete unneeded email account
If you have email accounts more than needed then delete those accounts . To see those steps , read my next tip on FixYa.com

If your account has been logged in by this IP address , then mail me to get information about it :
