I went further with this problem. The bottom line is that this is a bad design and the best way to deal with it is to super glue something to the top of these wheels. I actually drilled holes in them when I had it apart but if I had it to do over again, I'd just super glue something to each wheel.

I don't yet have the solution but I'll tell you this, it is not easy to get to. I'm an electrical engineer and had to unsolder parts to get the wheels off. I have it apart right now. I'm still looking for an appropriate lube for a plastic-to-plastic interface. Silicone didn't work too well. I'm thinking about trying powder graphite or plumbers grease. This is a bad problem and not an easy one to fix.

I now have an easy solution, although you may not like it. Taking this apart and lubing it is very difficult. While I had it apart, I drilled hole in the wheel and I can now stick my finger in the holes. The more simple solution is to super glue some kind of buttons or knobs on the wheel from the top and use them for traction.

I voted "helpful", in the sense that my future iPhone dock will not have this type of knob, ever again! Thanks for your advice, and the trouble you went through to come to that conclusion!

Hello, I have a iHome iH9 clock radio Non of the buttons work, can't set the time etc. Power supply was bad, replaced. Did a reset numerous times to no avail. What else is left except trash can?

If the iHome iH9 clock radio buttons are not working, make sure that the button or dial is clean. Dust particles may prevent the buttons from moving freely or from working properly.

Turn up the volume on your iPhone. Also, try connecting your iPhone or any other media player, e.g. computer, to the AUX IN jack on the speaker and see if the volume is higher for that connection.

My ihome won't work. The ipod is playing, but there is no sound coming out of the ihome nor is the radio working.

Make sure you have power to the unit. Do you see indicator lights that show the unit is working. Speaker switch on?

NO sound coming out....from iPod or radio Volume turned up ...

No solution, but my iHome iH8 has the exact same problem. Took the bottom casing off to see if I could find a speaker fuse or reset button. No luck...

The right dial won't work.

I have the same problem with the dials. The best solution I can offer there is to pop the dial off using a thin tool and then putting it back in place with the grooves aligned. As for the ipod not working, the ihome should have came with fittings that sit where the ipod goes to make that connection snug. If you have lost them I'm sure you could find one online.
