Hi,
You can install Windows 7 on your system with 1GB RAM, however you have to consider the following points: -
- Intel D945GNT has GMA 950 Graphics which supports Aero theme.
- Drivers for Windows 7 are NOT available from Intel Official support, so you have to try drivers update from windows support. (i.e. Automatic drivers update from Device Manager - Driver Properties) OR use Windows Vista Drivers.
-Audio drivers for x64 edition seems to be an issue, however, Audio Drivers can be downloaded from this link.
- For x64 Operating System, it is better to have more RAM, so you may consider adding more RAM to your PC for enhanced performance, however 1GB RAM is minimum requirement.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Yes you can run windows 7 64 bit in your syestem but have to upgrade your ram to 2gb for a smooth running and you have to buy a genune version of windows. The minimum syestem requirements for windows 7 64 bit are upto 1.4ghz processor and 128 mb graphics for a great performance.

Trying to run W7 64 bit with only 1gb of ram will make the system really slow. I suggest you purchase 4gb of PC5300 (667mhz) of ram which will cost about £30. Your system will then fly compared to what it is doing now.

Hello Sir, I had 512 MB 533 MHz DDR2 RAM(Dynet). Now I have bought 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 RAM(Dynet). My system has 2 slots. In one slot, I have 512 MB RAM and in another slot, I installed 1 GB RAM that I have...

The Intel D102GGC2 uses a Dual Channel Memory Architecture meaning that both slots need to be running at the same speeds. I would suggest getting another 667 MHz RAM card and installing it along side your current one, just as I reminder this motherboard only supports 2GB RAM Max so don't get one that is above 1GB.

  • You Gateway only supports up to 8 GB. memory. Hence it will not see your 5 GB. dimms
  • tops: 8129 MB (8 GB.). 4- 2GB. Adding the maximum amount of memory will improve performance and help extend the useful life of your system as you run increasingly demanding software applications in the future.

  • Specs:
  • Installed: 1024 MB DDR2 (PC4200), 533 MHz memory (two 512 MB modules)
  • Expandable to: 8 GB (4 memory slots)

  • How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found at http://www.crucial.com/kb/answer.aspx?qid=4251.

    RAM cuantity

The motherboard you mentioned supports DDR1 RAM.

For windows xp and general application 512 MB is enough.
But if you use memory intensive applications like image/video editing then you can opt for 1-2 GB RAM.
