HP Hewlett Packard Pavilion Slimline S3300F Desktop PC Questions & Answers
Replace power jack
Power supply failures in a HP computer can cause your computer to fail to turn on, to operate erratically or cause certain system components not function.
However, the power supply is one of the easiest parts of a computer to replace.
You don't need any special skills to do this.
If you're nervous about opening up your computer case and potentially damaging a computer component, don't be.
All you are really doing is plugging in power supply cables after securing the power supply.
The process should take 10 minutes maximum.
Shut down your HP computer.
Disconnect the power cable from the power supply on the back of your computer.
WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL.

Only work inside the computer case when the power has been switched off and disconnected. Never open the power source.
Some of the below steps recommend removing physical parts within the computer.
While in the computer it is highly recommend that you be aware of ESD and its potential hazards.
Unscrew the side panel from the back of the case and slide it off.
Newer HP computers may have a case door you can open for access or have access buttons to press.
Look at the back of your HP computer case for a set of four screws near the top of the case. Remove these screws and set them aside.
Carefully slide your power supply out of the mounting brackets and set it on a clean working surface.
Do not disconnect any of the power connectors yet.
Slide your replacement HP power supply into the case and use the mounting screws to attach it to the chassis.
Use your old HP power supply as a guide to connect your new power supply to all the computer components.
Switch the power cables from each device from the old supply to the new supply so you don't miss connecting any cables.
Check that all the components have power cables inserted and the old HP power supply is completely disconnected from the system.
Close the HP computer case and plug the power cable into the new HP power supply.

How do i change a power supply for hp slimline ?
There are three or four screws at the back of the system at the left side (as you face the back), remove them. Remove the top of the case. Disconnect the power cables from the power supply to the main circuit board (there may be two, but often just one 20 to 24 pin one, the second cable being 4 pin square for the CPU). Disconnect the power to the optical drive and to the hard drive. Slide the power supply toward the front of the system about 1/2 inch and pull up. Note, on some models the clearance is nearly none to none and you may need to remove the screws on the mainboard to slide the mainboard about 1/2 inch toward the right (as viewed facing the back of the system). To put the new power supply back, reverse the process.
I have a HP Pavilion Slimline running Windows 7. I had to replace the motherboard with ASUS F2A55 - MLK. Now I get a 'Configuration Error' when I boot-up.
HI,
You cannot just replace the motherboard and then install the same Hard Drive and expect it to work. It CAN work, but you have to prep your Hard Drive before you switch motherboards.
Your Operating System, if already installed on your Hard Drive, is configured/locked to your old motherboard. You would have to run SYSPREP or some other software on your COMPLETE system before switching out your motherboard, to UNBIND all the hardware and drivers already installed in your Operating System. This would make it ready to be installed in a new computer system... which yours is with a motherboard change.
The only option that I am aware of is to completely reinstall your Operating System from scratch... however, if your old motherboard is still functional, you might be able to put your old system back together and then run the appropriate software (search online), which could save you some time.

Everytime i try to boot
Hi, Helen.
I hope this helps you out in knowing what is going on.
When the computer tries to boot up, you said you hear clicking noises, well, this is the drive trying to access the boot sector of the drive.
If it just keeps clicking, and doesn't boot, then you most likely have had a hard drive failure.
Unfortunately, there is no easy fix for this, other than get a new drive for your machine.
At least drives nowadays aren't as expensive as they used to be, not even close.
A new drive only costs around $50 for a 500GB sata drive, that's pretty cheap considering that just 3 years ago the same drive was well over $200.
Most major retail outlets carries drives nowadays, even WalMart carries them.
You will have to reinstall everything on to the new drive though, unless you take the old drive to BestBuy, Fry's, Staples, or CompUSA.
They are the major electronics stores that have actual trained staff for data recovery services.
They can do their best to get all your old info off of the bad drive for you.
I hope this help you out on knowing what's going on, and good luck to you.

Can I use any SATA
Hello,
Yes, in fact you will most likely be able to get an upgrade as most HPs have a 5400 RPM hard drive and you can find great 7200rpm SATA hard drives.
There are also 10000rpm drives available but at this point they aren't worth the price in my professional opinion.
Good luck.

KYTechnology
My computor is HP
It sounds like you're describing the BIOS screen. This is an image that appears whenever the computer first starts up, and only lasts for a second or two, after which Windows begins to start up. Unfortunately, it's not possible to stop the screen from displaying; it's an important part of the boot process and allows technicians to enter diagnostic screens if necessary.
Can i change cmos or rtc battery with out loosing
Changing of a battery is not subject for loss of data because all a battery does is keep your time and BIOS dates and information intact not the hard drive which is opposite and is not powered by a battery. Hope this helps. John
I switch my monitor from a 17 inch to 26 inch but
Change your video resolution to match the new monitor. Right click in a blank area on your desktop go to properties and change your resolution (in XP). In Vista or Windows 7, after right clicking on your desktop, choose Screen Resolution (about the 3rd one up from the bottom of choices).
My computer won't boot up, if I leave my computer
'I can't read the memory to to do the recovery' in 99% isues that indicate hardware fail, mostly hdd or ram
I would recomend you to contact hp warranty department about this issue, because there is article that you might to be interested *** well.

I need the wireless driver for windows xp
No matter what driver you need you will need to collect this information:
Name of your Operating System (Windows XP)
Manufacturer of the wireless adapter (???)
Model number of the adapter (???)
Go to the Manufacturer's website, look up them Model you have and download the driver for your Operating System.
Unfortunately, your driver is likely to be your means of connecting to the Internet so you will have to download the driver on someone else's computer and transfer it to your computer.
I hope this helps.
