We got the Acer aspire one a week ago, registered

Sounds like your stuck on the Loading screen for the OS. If you bought it one week ago contact customer support or return it and get it fixed. You could easily do this by reinstalling the OS but you should have a professional do it since your waranty for a year should be up from the maker.

Network interface card

Most any standard PCI NIC will work for you, as long as you have an available port on your PC. Here is one from newegg.com at a great price. It's a Rosewill and I've bought that brand often. Rosewill RC 404 Ethernet Card 10 100 1000Mbps PCI 1 RJ45

What type slot is it for video card

You have a PCI-E slot. It may be 8x or 16x but they are all backwards compatible. The other consideration for a video card is physical space in that case and your power supply. What video card were you looking at buying?

Aspire desktop computer problem

I would if this were my computer see if there is any PCI or AGP video slots and use a new card first "Video" instead of the integrated one provided off the board. More than likely from your description display is the issue check monitor make sure this is working as well on another computer. This is how I would deal with this matter. Then when all else fails I would get another board. You can pretty much use any board that is compatible with the hardware you have that fits your board. ATX check the power supply pins etc. Make sure the slots will fit. Etc. You want to use as many good parts as you can. Most likely by the time you were to purchase another board you could maybe think about a bare bones kit, you can mate them with your parts you have already get a combo CPU and board setup. Depending on your expertise I always encourage people to experience one build in their lifetime it is fun and a great learning process. John

When I turn on my computer I hear everything

I have a few more questions for you and I might be able to help you. Is this a brand new computer? Have you added any video cards to your computer? Is the monitor plugged in by VGA, DVI, HDMI, or USB (go to link below to see connections). What type of monitor do you have? I know this is all a lot of questions and you just want your monitor to work but I assure you these are all important questions in order to find the right solution for you.

Motherboard problem Acer 5641-U5520A

There should be some more numbers on the board.

Probably between the expansion slots or near the edges.

If you notice a "FEW" capacitors blown then there may be a more serious issue with the board or in rare cases the power supply itself.

A replacement board would in this case be a lot cheaper than the cost involved with a repair.

Luckily quite a few boards would fit in that case.

From a persona point of view and the fact that do do seem to have some damage it is reasonable to expect more damage to possibly the CPU itself or the RAM and maybe even other components.

To reduce the costs and provided you have both the time and some experience you may want to look at building a new machine

Cases are quite cheap and offer more expansion facilities than the acer one.
A new motherboard with CPU can also be had quite cheaply

Or you could even consider what is knows as a bare bones system.

Using that type of approach you could build the system and try the ram from your old one and if that is fine use it. Same with other internal devices.

As for the operating system if you have a proper copy of the operating system you could use it to install on a newer computer using the COA (Certificate of Authenticity) from the old one.

If you only have restore Cd's then it would be problematic (but not impossible)

I have found staples to be a little expensive for repairs so may tend to look at some of the smaller more reputable tech shops in your area.

Without more numbers etc from the boara it will be difficult to make an exact specification or suggest the nearest board.

A check on ebay may give you a few sources

MY pc WON'T boot up.

try to check your video card. maybe it has a problem. if you reboot and you hear a beeping sound, your video card and/or your memory card is corroded. you can solve this by using an eraser to clean up the pins of your memory/video card from corrosion.

Motherboard problem Acer 5641-U5520A

i will suggest you to send the computer to acer service center and they will replace the new mother board. it will take some time but apart from that they will also check other things as well. you are investing money to replace yourself which can cause more problem. mother board should be the right one so that it should match with the other components of your comp. it wil cost you bit more but the factory fittings will be better than what you will do yourself and risk involved is less. you can also claim them if anything goes wrong. it doesnot matter if it is out of warranty or in waranty. dude you are paying the money and thats more important.
