CHECK THE FUEL FOR CONTAMINATES OR OLD GAS EMPTY COMPLETELY OUT AND PUT IN NEW GAS! ALSO CHANGE SPARK PLUG! IF YOUR LOW ON OIL, IT MIGHT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF ALSO!!

If it like mine take the cover off on the left rear you will see the belt it also has a cover on the bottom take it off you may be able fo use a screwdriver and froce the belt off if not pull the spring off the outer pulley remove belt and replace it with the new belt replace spring good to go.

Where the Starter Cord goes in to the top of the motor is what you need to remove. It is where the motor draws cooling air from and it is easy to remove. There are 3 or 4 small nuts (depends on HP, My 8.5 has 3. My 14hp has 4.) After you have it in hand, turn it over and you see the round pulley, take your time, there is a spring that pulls the cord back and sometimes it will just unwind with a lot of noise. Don't worry as it is easy to do after installing the cord. Now is the time to take a break, have a cold beverage!. Then just put everything back together. OOPS, I forgot to tell you that you can test the cord and retract spring without putting it back on the motor, and if you need to adjust the spring so it will pull the cord all the way in. Good way to start learning about your mower.

you have two seperate the tank from the comode and replace the comode inlet cover with a new one and reseal it down wont cost over 20.00 dollars becareful retighting it if you get one side to tight you will break water tank and then well new comode then good luck

the ignition coil is not grounding out the brake has a grounding wire it is probably not touching to ground it out but if you are in a hurry get a on off switch ground it to the frame hook the other end to the coil it works

If you did not try to mow the lawn, but shet the motor off before there was a loud KA BOOM. If not, it is time to consider a new motor. Otherwise just drain the crankcase like you would to change the oil. If you have a friend that could help tilt the mower so almost all the gas is drained. Now, put oil in the motor, 40 wt because there will still be a little gas left in the motor and when you mix gas and oil the gas is absorbed by the oil and the oil will thin out. DO NOT! start it up and rev up the motor. You want to let any remaining gas to be taken up by the oil. Run around your lawn a few times at a moderate speed WITHOUT the blades engaged. After this you can mow the lawn, at a moderate throttle setting, then drain the oil and fill it with the oil your owner's manual says to use. Or just put around your yard for 30 - 40 minutes, then change the oil. The above will only apply if you didn't mow until you had flames coming out of the exhaust and banging, knock ing noises were coming from the motor.
