My on board vga card is defect, is it possible to
yes, u can use any empty PCI slots (white / cream color slots) in the MB to fix the new VGA card and conect ur monitor to the output slot in the VGA card,
u also "may" have to install the new driver that comes with it in the CD.
Sound comes and goes on my HP dv2000
Your sound is intergrated into the motherboard and it will not be a connection issue.
The problem in most cases is the drivers for your sound.
You can go to HP.com and download your drivers and re-install.
This should take care of your problem.

Computer does not boot, blue on light lites up but
Now when you say blue power light, what are the rest of the lights doing, does the hard drive light flash, does the fans turn on, does the hard drive make it's spinning noise, if so you may just have a bad LCD inverter which is very common and about a 40$ part. you can test this by trying to hook the laptop up to an external monitor and see what happens.

Hp pavilion dv2000 display scrambles
Hi,
It sounds like the graphics chip is on its way out the only solution is to invest in a new laptop or look on places like ebay to buy a motherboard, you could probably find one from £10 to £100
The Laptop Powerup no display in dv2000
Since you can view the laptop's output through VGA, it indicates that the issue lies with the laptop's LCD. As u mentioned, firstly the LCD become dull, and now it completely dead, suggest that the internal flat ribbon cables that connect the LCD to the motherboard of your laptop may have been damaged. This could happen sometimes after extensive use. Please get it checked with authourised technician. Do not experiemnt further, as this could make the situation worse. Cheers..
Display problem with dv 2000 laptop
I bet you have no display at all but everything powers on. If you hook it up to an external monitor it has no video either. These motherboards have a chipset issue and will require either a motherboard repair (some people have had some luck) or a new motherboard. There are no guarantees how long the new motherboard will last either. Although it may sound expensive I would suggest replacing the laptop unless you can get an inexpensive board and someone to install it
