You might be able to get it to work but I have a Francis element that is made for the Francis. They are $20 + $10 shipping.

Have only worked on the X1. I don't think you will find service instructions. But if you look around carefully you should be able to find other screws which hold the machine together, and then the top will come off.

This is a hard to find part, unless you contact FF directly.
However here's a quick and easy way to find replacement o-rings for anything:
Take the o-ring to a hardware store such as Ace, Home Depot, or Lowes. In the plumbing section they have bins of o-rings of all sizes. Buy the o-ring that matches your old one.

Does the bottom light come on? The light is connected across the heating element and so if it is on the heating element is getting power. From looking at mine it looks like the bottom button for steam power bypasses the thermostat and uses the pressure switch to shut off the heating element. So if the light comes on when you press the steam switch but off when it isn't it is most likely your thermostat causing problems, if it never lights it is most likely the pressure switch. I do not claim to be an expert on the machine but from looking at mine that is what i would expect.
