MY PC LAPTOP REALSLOW
Unfortunately "real slow" is a subjective analysis and I would need to know what you are comparing it to before going much further. Lots of things could be impacting the performance of your PC or you could just own a slow system (compared to your friend's) and you may need to adjust your expectations (or buy a new PC). However, adding memory can speed up a machine. Clearing out unused files and defragmenting the hard disk will also help. There are lots of tweaks you can do to XP and Vista but they usually only result in marginal performance improvements. You may have a bunch of malware (virus or spyware) running, you may have multiple anti-virus programs, multiple firewall programs, etc. Some people go overboard, not realizing they don't have the extra CPU power needed to run all those programs. Performing a recovery will completely clean out your system and restore it to the factory settings. If the system's original performance from the factory was good this will get you back to that point. (Be sure to back up your data files and system settings before starting the backup though!!)
Display pixelized
Pixelated is a pretty generic description so doesn't help a lot, however, it could be you started your notebook in Safe mode, where Windows defaults to a low graphics setting for maximum compatibility with all hardware. Or, maybe you changed the video display settings yourself? Your native screen resolution is probably 1200 x 800, check the display setting to see if that's what it is set at now. Also check the HP.Com web site to see if they have a video display driver you can download, maybe your driver got deleted or somehow corrupted.
YES HOW HARD IS IT
When you format a
computer hard drive you will lose everything that is on the drive. Therefore, it is very important to back up anything you might want later. Additionally, if you are going to be formatting and installing XP you need to make sure you have the discs for any applications or third party hardware you use since you will need to re-install your programs and drivers after re-installing Windows.
Step
2Take a moment to think of anything that you have on the computer that you wouldn't want to lose. Generally, you probably want everything in your My Documents folder, and you also want to save things like your favorites or bookmarks from your Web browser. Remember that each user on the computer has his or her own My Documents folder, Desktop items and Favorites/Bookmarks.
Step
3Save everything to a CD, DVD or a hard drive that you won't be formatting
Its pretty easy in other words

Built in speakers not working on my HP pavillion zv5000
Try to check your settings in the control panel sound hardware .Maybe its disconnected or there are wires that has been cut-off. Try to check also your volume settings in the task bar. Maybe its set to low or minimum volume.
HP Pavilion ZX5000
Try to check your adaptor/ charger because it might have been the cause of your battery being drained. Your wire might have been worn out. some wires inside might have been cut off. So that is why even you directly turn into AC-DC connection your PC still doesnt work. If it doesnt work replace your adopter.

Follow the steps below to determine whether the problem is related to the AC adapter or your notebook system board:
-
Remove the battery and disconnect all external devices from the computer.
-
Hold the
Power button
for several seconds, with all power sources removed. This drains residual power from the system, and may correct many problems.
-
Connect the AC adapter to a wall outlet and plug the other end into the computer.
-
Press the
Power button
.
- Is the Power indicator light (LED) on or off?
****If notebook power indicator light (LED) is on, the AC adapter is working correctly***
If the power indicator LED is off, the AC power adapter may need to be
replaced. To determine if the AC power adapter needs to be replaced
follow the steps below:
- Ensure that the AC adapter is plugged
directly
into a known working wall outlet.
NOTE:
To check the wall outlet, plug in a different known working device like a light, radio etc.
-
Check all of the following connections:
- The connection from the AC adapter to the wall outlet.
- The connection into the power adapter from the wall outlet.
- The connection from the AC adapter to the notebook.
-
Press the
power
button again to test the notebook PC.
- If
the power indicator does not turn on, remove the AC power adapter from
the notebook PC and re-insert the battery. Then press the power
button.
If the power indicator light still does not turn on, then the AC Adapter needs to be replaced.

Which should I upgrade?
Upgrade the RAM much easier to do than the CPU.
CPU requires you to find a processor that will work for your laptop motherboard then you gotta open it up and remove the CPU.... TOO MUCH WORK! unless you're very comfortable in doing this.
I would recommend go to 512MB to 1G of instead 256MB.

It sounds like there is a problem with your motherboard. You would have to take it someplace to run diagnostics on it. It may be time for a new laptop
