ASUS M2N-E SLI (M2N-E SLI GREEN) Motherboard - Page 4 Questions & Answers
SLI Video Cards
Enter you're bios & open you're manual to page 4-32. Set you're
configuration to dual video card. Use the AL software to tweak you're settings in windows. If you find this not helpful than please call Asus tech at: 1-812-282-2787, M-F 8:00AM-5:00PM EST. Unlike other companies you will not be on the phone very long. Please have the S/N of the board handy. This is located on the board, on the LTP port (White sitcker).
Good Luck!
Mike
No video at startup
The beep code you mentioned is either a video problem or RAM problem, that is what the beeps mean. Check your RAM one by one in case you got a bad stick, making sure they are properly seated in the slots. Since a new video card did not slove the problem then it also could be a motherboard issue, video slot dead. If your motherboard is still under warranty contact the manufacturer to see if they'll send you a new board. These are the common problems for the symptoms you describe. Hope this helps.
The usb storage device don't work
first thing to do would be to check to ensure that your usb device isn't trying to assume the same drive letter as a mapped drive on your system. to check this, right click my computer icon, select manage, double click storage in the right pane, double click disk management snap in. You should see all storage devices connected to your pc. Mapped drives won't show up in there, so if you see a storage device with the same drive letter as a mapped drive change it to something else by right clicking that device, select change drive letter and path, and execute.
If it doesn't show up in your storage list, right click the my computer icon, select properties, click the hardware tab, select device manager, and at the top of device manager you should see an icon that looks like a pc with a magnifier over it, click that and it will search for new hardware and changes.
also, you may want to try moving the usb to another port on your computer, (ex. if you have it plugged into the front, try plugging into the back)
The flash memory don't work in windows vista
Hello mohamadg, you need to clarify your question. Flash memory looks like the memory shown on the site below; (Click on the link).
http://www.flash-memory-store.com/?gclid=CPOWldW-2pgCFQu-GgoduVWOeA
(I think your question pertains to system memory)!
System memory for the Asus motherboard looks like this;
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=1554&SRCCODE=WEBGOOMEM&cm_mmc_o=mH4CjC7BBTkwCjCECjCE
Your Asus motherboard can only function with, DDR2-800MHz / 667MHz or 533Mhz (Only). Dual channel 4x240 non-ecc memory. You can run up to 8 GB max of memory. If the system memory you are currently using does not match the above type & speed, your motherboard will not function. You will hear a series of beeps during start up of the system. These beeps are known as bios beeps. How many beeps (Including long beeps & how many short beeps you might hear) will tell you what is most likely wrong with your system memory. (See the next link for the Award bios beep codes);
http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm
Dual channel memory should be bought in pairs & not as a single stick/DIMM. Do not install more than 2GB of system memory until windows has been completely updated through (Windows Update Services). Once Vista or any version of windows has been fully updated you can increase your system memory. You can not mix memory speeds & type. If you are using 533MHz memory, & you want to increase the total memory to be used, you must match the memory speed of 533MHz. All system memory must be the same speed & type. See page 2-10 in your manual. Running two different types of memory may not give off bios beeps & the system may not function at all.
For drivers, click on the Asus link;

Once the link opends, type the model number M2N-E SLI into the search window located in the upper right hand corner of the link & than click the white arrow. In the next link that opends click on, "M2N-E SLI related files for download". Another window will open. Click on the dropdown menu & choose your operating system & click search.
All drivers, manual, bios files, bios utility, CPU supported & FAQ's are listed there.

Asus motherboard parts replacement.
no, it cannot, you would have to buy another motherboard, but what you could however do is go to the supplier and get a new one, from the warrenty
2 Lan ports not picking up cables
Try to uninstall and reinstall the driver for the LAN cards. You can also try to remove it from the motherboard, change PCI slots then reload the driver.
Can not get into setup; shuts down when trying...
After all you have tried, I would not bother with the water cooling. If the board does not work with air cooling, water cooling won't bring it around.
And in my opinion 400w is too small. I would not power the board with anything smaller than 750w, and don't use a cheap $29 power supply either. Power is the lifeblood of your system. Stick with good quality name brand power supplies.
Won't boot; now no video
Hi rwbta, from your description it sounds like a bios issue.
The bios only displays: (Press the Delete key for setup) when there is a problem with a device.
(Hard disk drive, video device, over clocking settings, ECT). After resetting the bios (As you have done), display should resume. Since it did not suggest you plug the monitor into the second VGA or DVI port on the graphics card & check for display. Try another monitor, (Just to be sure). If you are running in SLI, disconnect the primary PCI express card (Blue slot) & replace it with the second PCI express card. Boot the system & check for display. No display? Move to the second port on the card & check for display. Still no display? Than it is possible your bios may be corrupt.
You can buy a new updated bios directly from Asus estore online, click this link;
http://estore.asus.com/shop/ There are currently 217 pages to search through in order to find the bios chip for the M2N-E SLI board. (Your board is still under warranty).
You can save time by calling Asus tech at; 1-812-282-2787 & talk with a tech. If you choose to do so please write down the S/N found on the parallel port. The tech will want this & check to see if the board is still in warranty. After a short talk with the tech he or she may include another suggestion or you can just ask for an updated bios chip. In either case be sure to get a case number. The average cost for a bios chip is $5.00 not including shipping. Since this board is still in warranty this item should be free for you. Asus store hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM. To 6:00 PM PST, excluding weekends and / or holidays.
Good luck rwbta!
Mike
Running dual bfg 8800gtx oc2
Hey, I own the same board, well the brother model, M2N-SLI and on both boards its the same, X8 when two cards are used, 16 when only one card is used, I have 8600GT two of them, previously used in sli, but now with 3 monitors I don't use sli at all, I still think both cards are working at x8 even if sli isn't enabled.
Asus |M2N-E SLI Reeboot issues
Hey, I own the same motherboard and I don't have your problem.
I would suggest trying to update the bios, i think its more of a bios problem / motherboard issue, not windows related.
you can get the newest bios from
http://support.asus.com/
Computer will not boot up.
I have built several gamming computers, one with Asus and had good luck. What I do have is a power supply checker that I got from Tiger Direct that I use alot. To me a 450 watt PS sounds a little small . Sounds like it cant regulate the voltage, expecially the 5 volts. I have a master power supply (650 watts) that will hook up to any board or hard drive. I try it when I have this kind of problem. The only thing I dont like about Asus is that they have so many pins, so I would double check the pin settings.
Did the power supply come with the case.. If it did, change it. I have never had any luck with those. I really think they use 2nd hand ones for kits. Just my opinion GOOD LUCK
