Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
#2
Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
#3
Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
#4
In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
#5
Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
#6
Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

Mp3 wont format
place the unit into a computer and use it to format. If you have windows xp or later you can go into the control panel, then look to Administrator tools. in that you will fidn computer management. From that there is disk manager in the computer management console. from there destroy the partition adn reformat it and assign a letter.

Not able to format my mp3 player
I had the same problem, which I solved by downloading an update to the 530's firmware, at http://www.transcend.nl/support/dlcenter/Driver/TS530FWV1.4.zip
When I ran it, it told me the unit had to be reinitialized, which I accepted. Unit went off, then I unplugged it, plugged it back in, and the new hardware found wizard went on. After letting it run, I got the message that the hardware was installed. However, the unit did not appear in my list of available drives. I then ran the firmware update again, and voila! The unit's memory can be accessed.

You can Reset the unit to its Default settings by pressing the “Volume Down/Back-Fast Rewind/A”
button and “Hot-Key/REC” button at the same time
