Fuzzy no channels

If the inputs look normal then you might have a issue with your cable and or antenna. Does the TV have 2 antenna inputs? If so try the other one if it works ok then the antenna switch is defective. If not then the tuner is bad.

Hello Jerry

is there any light or anything on your TV any signs of power if not take your TV apart and get a multimeter and check voltage on power switch and see if you have 5 volts, if you don't then your power supply is bad, if it is power supply please check all the transistor on it for short if theylook alright please make sure none of the capacitor is popped up or anything like that, please let me know if you find something.

Thankyou

Mintek DTV-263 26 in. LCD Television... Problem:

I suggest you go to their website at: http://www.mintekdigital.com/user_man.asp The DTV263 is not available online, but the DTV323 is there and this should be the 32" version of the same set. Download the manual for the 32" version.

Mintek Fix

The TV needs to remain in DVD mode. Please correct me if I'm wrong but from my understanding you're hooking the TV up through a standard coaxial cable. You'll need to connect you cable box to the TV using component RCAs, not regular coaxial cable.

Since the DVD player sends component video to the motherboard of the TV, that's the only thing you can send through the new connection you just made.

I was going to post pictures tomorrow however I loaned my sister my digital camera a few days ago and she won't be able to return it until the end of the week. I can try using my cell phone and bluetooth... I'll see how it goes.

Let me know how it goes

Depending on the connection, one loose solder point could be the problem. Unfortunately I have to leave for work so I can't help you any further until about 10:00 tonight (EST). I will post some pictures by this time tomorrow, though. Maybe those will help as well. Oh and just to double check, you cut the wires from the DVD player and soldered them so that the component cables now run directly into the motherboard, correct?

I'll post some more info just as soon as I can.

The biggest reason is the input on your TV will be stuck in DVD mode. Therefore the set expects any audio to becoming from the DVD player and not inputs on the back of the set. So every input on the back of the TV except for the component input is non functioning. Another reason is that you have no way to control the volume of the TV since there are no functioning buttons save the power button.

If you cut the speaker wire in the TV and solder to the respective RCA connections on the back or side of the TV you can treat the speakers passively, meaning there must be some sort of amplifier to power them. You could also just splice some wire to the cut speaker wire to extend the speaker connection to an amplifier, but I'm not a fan of loose wires coming from the back of my TV.

Therefore, using this set up you would have your cable box attached to your TV and an amplifier of some sort, and the amplifier attached to the RCA connections you soldered for the speakers.

Here's an amplifier that would work for fifty bucks:

To turn the TV on just make sure the power button is pressed (this will put the TV in standby) and then press any other button on the side of the TV: Source, volume, any of them will work.

In order for your cable box's remote to work it will need to be programmed for the TV. I have been unable to find the program codes for the TV, but I do know that Comcast's cable remote will work if you do the code search. You do need to reconnect all the grounds that you disconnected as well.

Let me know if you run into anything else

No problem. What I was suggesting you could do with the speakers is to splice the positive (it should be red or white) speaker wire to the hot part another separate RCA (I used the side input) jack and the ground to the jack's ground sleeve (the outer part). So the process is similar to what you're already doing with the component RCAs and wires. Once this is done you can hook a receiver up to the built in speakers in the TV with no hassle. The speakers will not be powered, however, so you can't just hook the audio output from your cable box to the TV. All this process allows you to do is hook a powered amp or receiver to the speakers.

What I meant by saying to make sure there are no grounds was to double check and make sure each bit solder did not bridge over to another strand of metal or the metal chassis of the TV and cause a short or a ground.

Anything else, just let me know.

I need a power cord

If it's the same as the DTV-265 26" LCD/DVD, then it is the same as a power cord for any standard PC Tower, or PC Monitor. <br><br> I bought one off ebay for $6. Or just go to your local computer store.

Mintek Fix

It may be a little different on the 26" model. It's been several months since I did the repair so my memory is a little fuzzy. It sounds like the non flat strands are a common ground and the flat ones are the hot wires. The best thing to do would be to take a multimeter and test for continuity on the center of the RCA jack and the flat strand of metal. If you get a reading, that is where the input wire should be soldered. More than likely you're correct and you should proceed as you found logical.

All you're really doing is making a new connection for the component input on the back of the TV. So just make sure that each hot wire from the DVD player will be on the strand of metal that corresponds with the hot wire from the component RCA jack, which is the center part of the jack, not the outer metal sleeve. In theory you could just attach all of the grounds from the DVD player to any metal part of the TV; I do not know if this will work however because the set might have a failsafe on the motherboard, not allowing video pass through when grounds are not detected.

I hope this helps! And please let me know if you get it working or have any other issues.

Mintek MDP-1030 - 10.2-inch TFT Widescreen Portable DVD Player. It works but screen became dark what can I do?

Question edited for clarity, full 'make model (what it is)'. This is an Amazon, eBay, Newegg, Overstock special and basically a device without a maker. There is a South African minerals company that share the same name but no Mintek maker of electronics. The only option would be to take it to a computer or electronics repair shop locally and see if they can diagnose. It is likely to be something simple like a failing capacitor. https://www.google.com/search?q=mintek+mdp+1030+dim+screen https://www.mintek.co.za/ ..
