You have sound though I take it? Have you tried multiple inputs and it is on all inputs you have no picture whatsoever? Not even a blue or other colored picture? Just blank screen?

Also, this is a 42PF7320A model, correct?

Thanks, let me know, just reply here and I can help

My Philips 42 inch flat screen tv keeps cutting

Hello,

There seem to be a problem with the power panel of the television that is why it does not power on if you leave it over the night without trying to turn it on.

Flashing the green power LED light simply means there is a problem in the unit that is why it keeps cutting.

Run a check on the power panel of the television to see if there is a burnt capacitor in the unit, then replace if you find any, also, a cold joint can be a cause for the problem whereby, you have the lead on a capacitor or component melted off and bridging two wrong ends together. That can be corrected with the use of a soldering iron.

If you are not familiar with technical activities, i would strongly advice you have a repairman run a check and fix it for you. It should not cost you much and if it is still under the warranty period, then you can take it back to the dealer that supplied it to you.

Take care

Turn tv on has sound

The red light usually indicates a power section problem. It would be something just about gone or overheating.

You will have to take this into a repair shop or a Phillips repair depot. You really should get an estimate for this before commiting to getting it fixed. Depending on the year it may have a sperate power board (cheapish to fix) or might require the main board to be fixed (lots of $$$) Worse case is that it can cost as much to repair as just buying a new replacement tv. So get the repair estimate and check around for replacement costs and let that be your guide as to which way to go with this.

The volume will shut off

Hi and welcome to the site,

Unfortunately, this is a known issue. Fix is to upgrade the firmware.

Please click here. Scroll down and/or Search for "What problems will latest software solve?" and click on it. On the new page that would open scroll down and search for "Solution for sudden audio drop".

Click here for Version: 1.5.0.0 of the firmware.

Good luck and thank you for asking.

Purple line running down full length of the screen

This may be an electrostatic discharge problem. I also might be an old firmware problem which you can update through the screen access to the upgrade menu. If your red standby light is flashing 7 times, it could be the upper and lower y boards and the sustain board, which is a VERY common problem in Plasmas. Replacement of these boards outweighs the cost of buying a new LCD TV with warranty at Walmart - that is our advice - don't sink more money into a set that was not made well in the first place!

Half the screen has gone black

Ok first lets start with the half screen and no lit screen . Samsung plasma panels (S42AX-YD01) HD V4. are really bad about the Y-board (upper, lower) buffers are really bad about getting hot and burining up. If u remove the back cover of TV u will see on the left side the Y-board (it will be marked in small letters) if u look and the rows of IC's with heatsinks on the buffers will be a dark yellow. Majority of the time if u remove the buffers. and look underneath them u will see the solder has melted from the board. U can replace the Y-board and buffers and the TV will work fine.
Next part if u have vertical lines in the panel. There is not much u can do as a repair. Only thing u can do is get panel replaced. because there is and IC that is burned up on the panel, and trust me there isn't anything u can do to fix it. If u want to see for yourself. After removing the back cover, remove SSB, and brackets holding PDP in place. at the bottom of TV there is a row of buffers marked E,F,G, ( i think) there is a long heat sink covering the IC's at the bottom connected to the bottom of PDP. As u can see without a $70k machine to change this there is not much u can do with it. Hope this helps.

Whats causing horizontal lines in my philips 42

There are very fragile ribbons that are attatched to the top of some LCD displays, if these have been pinched or damaged in anyway, this can create what you are describing. Was the LCD panel ever hit by like a wii remote around the tv bezel or did it fall without cracking the screen? It could be something simpler like, some really wrong color settings or something...
