Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electical extensions

even something as small as an electrical fan and its lead can cause you problems or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs all electrical power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

I have a hpl1706 monitor,it

there are 3 capacitor in the power supply section on the circuit board, you will have to change all 3 capacitors the value of the 3 capacitor are 1000uf/10v and all 3 are soldered at one location, you need not search for those capacitors, if you see the component side of the board you will find those 3 capacitors either difused or burnt out.

When we on the lcd then monitor shows ok, but

It may have unstable DC problem due to bad caps, see pictures here:

This model is also known to have bad lamp assemblies. I would inspect the power supply first.

My HP monitor flickers when

Hello,
Reading the symptoms there might be some things:
1. Incorrect voltage by the power supply unit to the mainboard and the lamp(s). 2. The lamp(s) used for backlighting the lcd matrix. If you have another 17" matrix (the lamps are integrated inside) you can switch to check if the problem will be fixed. 3. CPU fail
If you are a technician working in a computer repair company there is a chance to get same model and get 1 working of 2 failed monitor, otherwise buying a new one will be cheaper than the repairing in a service.
Hope this helps Alex

No input signal

Hi there.

It could be a connection problem between your monitor and your PC.

On the back of the monitor, you will see a VGA cable (usually blue color), it looks something like this:
tendersound.jpg
Make sure that this cable is connected properly to your monitor and the other end to your computer.
NOTE: Those 2 round things are its screws, you have to turn them to remove the cable and turn them again from opposite direction to hold the cable in place.

Thank you. Let me know questions.

Unable to change resolution to 1280 X 1024

The maximum-resolution supported by some video-cards can be less than 1280*1024.
You need to install a "better" video-card into your computer.
