When I plug in the adapter to the x box, the network adapter in when I test the live connection it reads "Disconnected."
I had the same problem and it's happened on numerous occasions before. Previously, i was fortunate, the ol' unplug, wait 15 secs, replug and voila! But just this minute it refused to work whatever i tried. So i unplugged the power source, waited and it worked. Trial and error my friends, either that or blow up Bill Gates.

Hi, It's been three months and I cannot connect to my wireless network. The change happened when I went to my mom's house and tried to get onto her wireless network. Whatever I did, it didn't work there. I came home and tried to get onto my wireless network and nothing. I tried repairing the device and it says it can't finish because it can't connect to the network, contact my network administrator. I know the wireless is working from going to the configure address. I now have to plug my laptop into my wirless device with an ethernet cable in LAN1. I have a Philipps ADSL multiservice modem/wireless router. My wireless card is whatever came in a Sony VAIO 2 years ago. HDAUDIO Soft V92 with IntelPro network adapters. There is security on my network, but that was never a problem before. Right now the network is mixed (11b +11g) and its on channel 10. So when i got my xbox 360 i connected perfect on a wireless network with the wireless network adaptor. But then my 360 broke down so i sent it to the microsoft repair shop and today they sent it back. So i plugged it in and connected my wireless adaptor to it and when i did a connection test it vertified that my w/a was plugged in but it would pass the connection test? so i called microsoft and did everything they told me but it still wouldnt work for somereason?? can u help me with this problem?
i think you have more than one connection in your settings of the same name
follow this step
1right click on network icon( connection in network)
2.device manager
3.select all wireless connection then
4. delete all the connection
close the window
now it will show the new connection
click pop up and click connect
enter yor pass key
NOTE: it will ask only if your securty is enable

ive had my xbox 360 wireless adapter for about 5 months now and never had a problem now all of a sudden it just stopped working no green or red light nothing i tried un plugging and reconnecting numerous times but still nothing. please help
I had the same problem last week. Xbox Support says I need a new adapter, so I figured I would tinker around with the broken one. On the USB connector itself, there is a outer stainless shroud, and the inner black piece with the gold contacts on it. What happens is the wifi adapter contacts no longer touch the console contacts, hence the light never comes on and the console doesn't recognize it. I stuck a screwdriver between the stainless shroud and the black connector plate, and made the gap a little bigger, now the adapter works perfectly. I think this is a design flaw, as I never move the console or adapter, but over time, the pressure from the USB cable makes the contacts loose and it eventually no longer touches. Saved me $100 bucks.

Here is the deal. my xbox 360 wireless network adapter isn't working on my new wireless router(Netgear), so the light stays red. It used to work on my old router (Speedtouch) but now on my new router it won't work. The strnge thing is that my xbox 360 does connect to xbox live when my ethernet cable is plugged in with my router to my xbox 360 and as soon as i plug in my wxbox 360 wireless network adapter my xbox 360 can't connect! So the problem is actually that my network adapter doesn't connect to my new router but when my xbox is wired with a ethernet cable it does work on my router.
Please help me because i really can't fix this and i have this problem for a very long time now and no one i asked about the problem was able to help me out.
You can try fixing this using Xbox360 repair guide that covers almost all xbox 360 problems, you can get a copy from here

i just got a wireless n network adapter. for some reason, it won't work. the light is flashing green and when i tried to put in the installation disk, the disk wouldn't run, saying that it is a mixed media disk. the wireless network option under the advanced settings in network settings is gray, so i can't choose it. it just won't work or connect to my wireless network. i have a mixed 802.11b and 802.11g modem where the ssid broadcasting is on and the wireless works for my laptops and ps3. any ideas? thanks
If the light is flashing but the disk does not start you need to go into system settings/console/startup and turn the "Disk" auto startup ON. It was set to off for me by default. Restart and it will install the update from the disk.

I already installed the disc for my N adapter for my xbox 360 and it only works half the time. Now it's not working and the green light is blinking. What's the deal?
your router is jacking up the flashing means its looking for your router how far is it from the BOX ...

my xbox won't connect to my wireless router
Before connecting the X-box or play station or nintendo WII to the network, Make sure that you have all the wireless settings of the router.
if you don't know the wireless settings , then you will need to open the router set up to find the wireless settings.
Once you have all the wireless settings of the router, you are ready to connect the play station or the x-box to the wireless network.
Trouble connecting to the internet on X-box ,Play station or WII ?
You can try to reduce the MTU settings on the router. if the MTU on the router is set to 1500 then change the MTU to 1365.
Also you will need to open the ports on the router.
For WII port numbers are ==> 28910, 29900, 29901, 29920, 80, 443.
For XBOX port numbers are ==> 53, 80-88, 3074
For Play station port numbers are ==> 80, 443-447 ,5223, 3478-3479, 3658, 10070-10080.
X-BOX
On the x-box you will need to connect to the wireless network now.
Open the main Interface of the X-Box.
1. In the Xbox Dashboard, go to My Xbox and open System Settings.
2. Select Network Settings, Configure Network.
3. On the Basic Settings tab, select your wireless settings.
4. Select the name (SSID) of your wireless network. If your router isn't broadcasting your network's name, select Specify Unlisted Network and enter the name.
5. If your network has wireless security, enter your WEP or WPA key.
6. Try to connect to Xbox LIVE again.

how do i find out my wap2 key???
You will need to check the wireless settings of
the router.
Is there any computer online using the router.
check the IP address on that computer.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on
that computer.
router set up page is the page where you can check
all the router settings.
Click Here for more information about the routers
and network
