Either you can find the passcode by login into Wirless Router or reset the password from Wireless Router itself.

Xbox live on netopia router

Okay, to connect to Xbox Live using Wireless Internet you will need this:

One Xbox Wireless connection unit, There are two types, the black and white versions. The black one is able to pick up the most diverse signals and has a higher potential for speed so I recommend that one.
You will also need, of course, a high speed internet source (modem) and a wireless router connected to the modem. When looking for wireless routers look for ones with marks claiming to be compatible with Xbox Live or a Windows OS. Those have been tested to work with Xbox.

Before trying to set up your Xbox Live, make sure your Router is set up with your computer, and set to be used as a wireless router. That's another tip all together but just follow your installation CD.

Okay so here we go!

First, Connect the wireless networking adapter to the back of your Xbox.
If you have a network cable plugged into your xbox, unplug it. Check to make sure the adapter's light is on.

Here's what the light's mean:
On the gray adapter:
No light: It's not getting enough power( try plugging it another USB slot)
Green light: It is connected to a wireless router, gateway or wireless access point.
Red light: It is not connected, and is ready for configuration.
Flashing red: There is a malfunction. (try again, if the problem persists return it for a replacement)

On the black adapter:
No light: It's not getting enough power( try plugging it another USB slot)
Green light: It is connected to a wireless router2_bing.gif, gateway or wireless access point.
Flashing green: The adapter is attempting to connect to a wireless router, gateway, or access point.
Red light: It is not connected, and is ready for configuration.
Flashing red: There is a malfunction. (try again, if the problem persists return it for a replacement)

Now the CONFIGURATION, the reason most of you are reading this:

Turn your Xbox on and go to "My Xbox"
Go to "System Settings"
Go to "Network Settings"
Go to "Configure Network"
On the basic settings tab select "Wireless mode"
Select "Scan for Networks"
Select your Wireless source.

NOTE: If your Network isn't listed you will have to manually enter it.
To do this select "Specify unlisted network"
You will need to enter your SSID
Then choose which security you used to set it up on your Computer (ie: WPA, WEP...) Then enter your security code. If there is no code then select "no security"

Your adapter should have a green light now.

Now go back to "Network Settings" and select "Test Xbox Live2_bing.gif Connection"

If it works your good to go!

Hope this tip helps :) Tell your friends and ratings are nice. Just kidding, I just hope I helped.

Want to block p2p Downloading

You can try the free peerguardian 2 program which has many options.
You can also access the router's programming by opening up a webpage, then type 192.168.1.1 and hit enter. If you don't have a username and password already set, try admin for both.

I have recently updated to the netopia 2247-02

I would contact Motorola at http://www.netopia.com/support/hardware/2247w.html
They have a net chat option and an e-mail option that don't require you buy a contract. I did not see any way to access the downlevel firmware, but they should be told that their new firmware is causing issues.
I would do a complete factory reset before I did this and set up new configuration - just to be sure that it is not a cruft issue. By a lot of trouble, you mean having to try over and over again?
But this sounds like a technician issue and something that an owner needs to tell them about.

Need to know what a

you are probably doing some port forwarding..

I found this that may be helpful port forwarding for your router

on your question

base host port is the port you are opening on your router which means that whatever communication stablished with an outside-your-network device on x-y port range will come through into or out of your router through that base host port.

for example:

so if you have an application that works with ports abc to xyz, any communication that comes out of your router that is between that range will go out of the base host port abc (the lower number in the range), in the same way if there's info going out through and out of your router to any port between abc and xyz range it will go through port abc, your host base port.

hope that helps.

I hope that makes sense

the network administrator (whoever configure your router) should have the wep key you're looking for, if you're that person and forgot your wepkey you need to reset your router so you can go back into the router configuration page and reset a new key (and hopefully you'll remember it next time).
here some instructions for your product:

check on page 14 (FAQ) of router's manual
