You need to clean the battery compatrment contacts. This is best accomplished with a cotton swab "dampened" not soaked with rubbing alcohol. Wipe the contacts as best you can and then make sure they are completely dry by blowing on them. Do the same to your battery and charger if so equipt. THank you, Dana

You didn't provide much info to work with, but it sounds like you're experiencing software problems. Try installing your software again, without further attempts to remove/uninstall what's already there. Hopefully the new install will overwrite and correct the problems.

I am using the coolpix 4300 as a microscope

Hi,

Do not forget to accept the solution, if 100% satisfied with my solution!!

When using a Coolpix camera on a microscope use these settings:
  • Set focus to Infinity
  • Set exposure to Aperture Priority
  • Zoom in to fill the microscope image on the camera's LCD
Failure to follow these settings may result in vignetting (dark edges). When using the 4300 or 5000 a lens adapter step-down ring is needed. (UR-E4 for the Coolpix 4300 or UR-E6 for the Coolpix 5000)

For more information, you can read the following files :-

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Nikon cooplix 4300 worked for 5 years fine now it

What does the battery icon show? If it shows an almost depleted battery the camera will only let you take one picture, then disable it from taking any more.
It's possible the battery won't hold a charge, so you should consider testing the camera further using an external charger or getting a new battery.

Nikon 4300 CF Card Erro

The Nikon Coolpix 4300 only supports the FAT16 filesystem, so it can only support a 2GB partition. To support 4GB you need a FAT32 filesystem.
Put the card in a CF writer and attached to a PC or Mac. Partition 2x2GB partitions, then format them as FAT16. Now put it into the Coolpix 4300 and it should work.

My camera turns off and turns back on when I'm in

If you're using a rechargeable battery, either it needs charged or is too old to take a full charge. It probably needs replaced.

My camera wont turn on at all and its brand new

Double check the batteries and make sure they are inserted correctly.

If the battery is rechargable, recharge the battery and try again.
