I assume you had new batteries in the original remote and that the Universal remote was programmed correctly for your TV.

Are there any lights on the old remote that flash when you press a button? If so, does it light?

If the TV doesn't respond to a remote, and the remote is verified to be in working order, then the infrared sensor in the TV is defective amd needs replaced.

Check the battery, If not there could be some dirt on the IR LED or did you drop the remote?

I most certainly hope that after all this time, you were able to program your remote! But if you have any questions, haven't gotten it working, or have another tv and remote that you would like to program, I am here to help! The link below is a link to instructions for a power scan. The scan scans all of the codes on the tv until it finds the right one for the remote. It sounds tedious, but it is a quick and simple way to get that remote programmed to the tv. This scan works for every DISH remote, and you can use it on any tv, so if you have a tv in the future that you want to program with the DISH, this will help! It's a very handy thing to know!!!!

I'm sorry, but the TVM1916F is not digital. You will need a converter box if you have an antenna for your signals.

Yes, this tv will need a converter box. It is not digital.

On later model Sansui tv's, you can bring up the menu by pushing both volume buttons on the front of the set at the same time. After the menu is on the screen, you can navigate using the channel and volume buttons.

have a sansui tv with a date of sept 2002 i bought the tv because it was on sale and have since lost the reciepts. anyways , no i need the tv and when powered up there is no picture but the sound comes on fine. i turnd it upside down and beat it and shook it and the pic came on for a min only to turn back off in 5-6 minutes. help. oh and i dont have electrical or circuit knowledge but willing to change a bulb or fuse. as you say that sound is ok and picture also comes some time so please check loose contact in luminance section of chroma ic . weak signal may cause rolling and intermittant picture problem for that checkloose near antena socket thanks
