The math club has 57 members who are in sixth or

Assume that the letter "a" represents the number of 7th graders. Since there are twice as many 6th graders we can call them "2a". There are 57 total members, we can make the following statement: 2a + a = 57 We can simplify this to say 3a = 57. Divide 57 by 3 = 19. (this is the value of "a") There are 19 seventh graders and 19 x 2 sixth graders or 38. 38 + 19 = 57

I am a sophomore in college and i am taking math

there is no easy way.....it's just a matter of trail and error and logic.....not helped by there sometimes being more than one answer.

Would always suggest starting on the left as this, as a number, cannot exceed those below it. Then next to try and identify the most reoccuring letter.

the use of multiple sketched grids also helps

What is the sum of the function f(n)=(nth

The function is: f(n) = (n-th triangular number) ^ 2

So, f(1) = (first triangular number) ^ 2

the '^ 2' means "multiply the number by itself", e.g., '3^2' is '9'.

And, f(2) = (second triangular number) ^ 2
and, f(3) = (third triangular number) ^ 2

So, what is a "triangular number" ?

Do an Internet search for "definition triangular number",
and you may find the web-page;

http://www.mathsisfun.com/definitions/triangular-number.html

which gives a definition, plus pictures to help you visualize why they are called "triangular". Hint: a "tri-angle" has 3 sides, while a "quad-rangle" has 4 sides.

Two clocks are set at 6am one clock gains 30

Compute the difference in clock-speeds, namely 90 seconds per hour.
Convert the units of time: 30 minutes becomes 180 seconds.
So, divide 180 by 90 to get '2', namely 2 hours after the 6 o'clock "start" time, which makes it 8 PM.

P.S. There is at least one error in the above solution. If you truly understand the solution, make the necessary correction, and submit the corrected "homework" to your teacher.

Find the two integers between the square root of 101

Hello,

Your question is incomplete, because when you use the word between we expect to be given a lower limit and an upper limit.

If you had said: Find the two integer between the square root of 101 and the square root of 168, we would procced as follows.
SQRT(101)=10.0499
SQRT(168)=12.9615

The only two integers between 10.0499 and 12.9615 are 11 and 12.

Hope this will help you reformulate your question.

Best of luck.

Help please

hi lilwallace;
The federal excise tax of 8% on the round trip ticket is calculated by multiplying 8% times the price of the ticket. Remember 8% is written as .08 when we multiply.
$832 times .08 = $66.56 is the excise tax

$832 times .06 = $49.92 is the sales tax

Now we just add the ticket price plus the excise tax and the sales tax and we get $832 + $66.56 + $49.92 = $948.44

Hope this helps Loringh PS Please leave a rating for me.. Thanks
