I got a dyson dc

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14 All Floors. Due to the design of the cleaner's brush control system, the clutch should only be serviced by an engineer.

To check everything is correct with your machine, try switching the cleaner on and reclining it into the vacuuming position - make sure the brush control is set to 'Carpets'. If the brushbar is not rotating, please follow the quick troubleshooting steps shown in our online support guide linked below. Please note, the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing upright, or if you have the brush control set to 'Hard Floors'.

This should allow you to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've followed the steps shown in the support guide and are still concerned, please call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you to establish the cause of the issue, and will be able to recommend the best course of action.

Kind regards,

Jack

Working well, switched off, moved downstairs,

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14 All Floors. Like most Dyson cleaners, your DC14 is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the cleaner if it starts to overheat. This is often due to a blockage, or because the filter needs a wash. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=626&product=DC14-ALLFLOORS_US

The correct way to wash the filter is shown in the video linked below. The filter should be washed in cold water without any detergent, at least once every 3-6 months. Always ensure it's totally dry before replacing it - this may take up to 12 hours.

By clearing any obstructions and washing the filter, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've followed these steps and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you and recommend the best course of action.

Kind regards,

Hi there,

It might help to check that you have your brush control adjusted correctly - in case you don't have your user guide to hand, here's an online version. Please see page 6:

Extension hose has no suction. Regular floor

Remove the hose from the unit and check the opening where it goes in. Next look inside the hose and see if you can see debris trapped in there.

When you try to clear the line you need to be in a place where its ok to get dusty. Outside, garage etc.

Shake the hose and keep at it until ALL debris is gone. Also check to see it a stick. pencil. or some other rigid item is stuck in there. If there is it will clog again.

If shaking doesn't work try a broom handle to clear the hose.

It's possible they came from the fan/impeller. If so, there will be minimal to no suction at the power nozzle or hose end. Remove the hose end from the powerhead to check suction.
