Dyson DC14 won't change suction from

Try cleaning everything in the vacuum cleaner, hoses and filters and where you collect the dirt. Something must be plugging it up. If you have any brushes check to see if thread or hair is rolled around into it.

Makes a ratchetting noise due to hair caught in

You have to take it to a vacuum shop and have a new clutch put in. The DC-7 and DC-14 have a clutch that needs replacing usually every year to year and a half.

No suction

Sucked up a sock?? No seriously.. it may be as simple as that or that an on board filter is clogged. Check your manual for all filters and Hepa/screens and others. Also, is the unit making any odd noises since the non -suction scenario? Whining or screeching sounds, where is the motor impeller/vac bearing or similar is damaged or a hose is kinked within hte unit itself.. <not normally unless the unit has been taken apart and placed back together and crushed the main return vac hose. .

Brush doesn't spin

Check that the brush has not become fouled with string, etc. If it still doesn't work try the following.

Some Dyson's have a switch for the brush on the front of the handle. If yours does, please make sure its on. This may seem obvious but many vacuum owners who have this switch don't know it is there until it is turned off and the brush doesn't function.

You didn't say if the hose has suction. If there is no suction in the machine, I would check the usual (empty dirt, clean filters, check for clogs). Hope this helps and good luck!

Roller bar does not spin when turned on my DC14

Either your belt is broken or the roller is not functioning dues to debris or hair or bad bearings. You'll have to take a look at the bottom of the vacuum and see if the belt is broken. If it isn't, you need to remove the roller bar and see if there is anything keeping it from spinning. If the bearings are frozen, you can spray them with a lubricant and try to free them up. If this fails, then you will need to get a new roller. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Makes a whistle noise the beater brush doesnt move

If you're getting a whistle sound, you have a block somewhere in the system! Pull out your owner's manual and remove all indicated elbows and areas where clogs are likely to occur. Such as the bottom right rear corner and the back at the hose, these two areas have detachable joints to remove clogs!

The suction only works when upright, when in the

you probably have suction just no aggitation. those units use a clutch assy with two belts unfortunately when the belts fail you have to replace the whole assy just like everything else on the dysons. check your brushroll for rotation and for hair wrapped around it. if the brushroll doesnt spin easily it will cause your belts to fail
