These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. You should direct your attention to the East/West correction circuit. If the line output transistor was replaced due to it having gone short circuit, damage to this circuitry is likely. Also check the horizontal driver transformer for dry joints, a fault here will cause random failure of the line output transistor Best regards Vintie

Sounds like a fault to its pincushion distortion circuit. Contact any service technician to get it repaired. Ur high voltage is dead,the FBT,the flyback transformer is dead.The big black block of plastic with a red wire with a cap hook to the CRT(tv tube).

Most of these have a error buffer---if set shuts down power light will blink in a specific sequence---it will only point to the general area of the problem and frankly most of these are not being repaired as the weigh a ton and repairs usually result in the set being replaced with something less expensive and with new features.

If the set goes to all the inputs and works and only will not go out when display is pressed (if display works on the other inputs) the set may need to be reset to factory default or in some cases in the tech menu it may have the wrong number code listed for that input.Problem is only on one input?Display off works for channel and other inputs?

In most cases the standby light might blink with different rapidity to indicate a fault relevant to the processor. It is possible that most of these indicate that there are errors in the processing section. Since there is a possible short or leak in the circuit the output driver section can take in huge current to trip the SMPS or from advice from the micro processor. Remove the power plugs and make sure that high voltage sections are discharged of the potential stored in capacitors. Look for visible signs of leak or of busted capacitors. Look for bulged capacitors or damaged components- burnt or busted. Use a multi-meter to check the continuity or shorting in components, if so detach from circuit and test. If the voltage builds up and the set power ON and then shuts up then the suspected section must be checked in detail.

The processor must have the +5 voltage to the function properly, the +B and secondary voltages also must be checked to infer the fault. Trace with caution and in running through the signal path , circuit trail.

I have fixed this problem, on one of these.

It is a voltage regulator, and it probably died after a power outtage or surge,
am I right?

Get it to a fixer guy, Its a very affordable repair.

stanby light does not come on my LG 42 PX3RV-ZA

I have had this problem all along with my Sony, not being able to figure out how to get rid of the Video 1 setting! I read this posting from Kessa a few minutes ago, and I tried hitting TV and Display - I couldn't find Display - it was because I had picked up the wrong remote! I had the Comcast remote instead, and when I couldn't find Display, I pressed Info - and it disappeared! Then I realized I had the wrong remote. I tried this process again using the correct Sony remove - I hit TV and then Display and it did work! Yay! thank you so much.

It is clear that there is problem with the internal power supply of the set,this can be repaired by some technical expert.

The Sony sets were noted when it came to bad capacitors, some would display a bulge at the top, while others looked normal but are still defective, usually they would open and prevent power from going to it's destination. I recommend a service shop to deal with the repairs.

U have a soldering iron,desoldering pump or a roll of desoldering braids,a roll of solders?Can u do basic soldering and uderstand basic electronic?FBT- the flyback transformer,the big black block of a plastic with a red wire with a cap hook to a CRT-tv picture tube.Near the big block of a plastic with a red wire with a cap hook to a CRT picture tube.Inside to the right of the FBT,there are 2 power supply ICS,those 2 ICS are dead.Replaced these 2 power supply ICS near the FBT,will solved this tv LED power light indication blinking and will have stable tv power again,and tv will work.

Check filament/ heater glows in picture tube neck?
5 times led blink shows that picture tube is not working.
If heater in CRT is not glowing (little orange light) that means either horizontal deflection section is not working or heater connection is broke.

The power supply in all likelihood. Not something you can do. Any tv repair can take care of it but will likely charge $25-30 for an estimate. They have to spend a bit of their time to check it out. The cost of the estimate will go towards any repairs.

Resolder the FBT or replaced the FBT,will solved this problems.The FBT are to give high voltage the CRT tube too.
